The message got through loud and clear that it was time to unsubscribe.
The trend that has been going for years now of being out of touch, fixing late, apologising is only getting worse as time goes on and this live letter drove it home harder than any ever before.

The only place this game can go with how its being approached now is downwards until all that's left are people hanging on to it because its their comfort place, who like its raid style and who goon to the mods.

It's literally WOW in its shadowlands period, if by some miracle they pull a redemption arc then I'll come back but I doubt it.

Feels like they are catering to the top percentage of raiders. As if FF's modfilled raidscene has any prestuge. I feel like they dont have the care or resources to improve the game overall in a schedule that makes sense for any normal consumer. Goodwill can only carry you for so long. This isnt some small team indie company.

YEARS for simple QoL improvements is not acceptable. Before Jeeqbit comes here and says "but muh SE focuses on quality so it takes loooong" buuuuuullcrap.

They noticed that they could coast along after the covid cycle. They are in active warfare against the manifesto of a good game dev team that Yoshi P published. Including Yoshi P himself. I wouldnt be surprised if they were relegating everything in the backround for a remake or two. The story is predictable anime slop writing now, where none of the established politics matter. (See Vrtras 5 minute skypecall alliance with Tural) it was just an asspull to get dragon/endwalker memberberries.

All the open world is just a canvas for outdated systems, they are so lazy that multi-building towns have all shut doors. OPEN ALL THE DAMNED BUILDINGS, YOU ARE AN MMO. Heck even all the other final fantasies had open buildings.

As it stands, I'm tired of arguing and waiting. I'm completely boycotting 7.3 content in its entirety, not touching it. Not a single piece.
As for my sub, that's a little harder, it runs out in October, but I have both a house and a solo FC with subs that I sunk alot of time into. I'm trying to find the courage to just let it go.

You're right. But it's not easy to let go of something I put so much time into. But I'm trying.

I mean just for clarification I would say the term casual is a separate meaning, in that back in my day (FF11, OSRS, WOW, Diablo 2, etc.) casual was anyone that wasn't hardcore, and we just called crafters only just that. Today it's different because the amount of brainless content is SO MUCH HIGHER. That term that seems to have penetrated the most "midcore" is actually closer to the older style of casual where gameplay was still engaging, required some investment, you had to use your brain at least somewhat, but the payoffs felt rewarding.

To that I'd say this team just can't figure it out, or that the constraints and cost cutting put on them is so intrusive to the teams ability to make things complete that it has become a detriment. Either way, at this point I think it would be REALLY healthy for FFXIV to lose a good amount of players for a bit, just to put the heat under them. Currently this is SE's lifeline and if FFXIV starts to drop even harder, SE will have no choice but to listen to player demands. They are a business after all and this is the give and take, the push pull of how capitalism at this scale works.

I was expecting some positive takes. I know that the forums isn't where you spend your time if your enjoying the game... but I was expecting some.
I'm now kind of feeling like I;m the closest thing to a casual who was positive about the live letter. (That said I did switch off pretty much once it was clear FT was dealt with and they were moving into atma and gold and bunny rate minutiae.)
Well I don't want them punished for the live letter, but on the other hand, I think its bitter medicine they need to take sooner rather than later.

Maybe Live Letter > 'the feedback' , will create an opportunity that can only now capitalise on.

Think twice CB3 if that DD100+ is another Criterion.
There is a difference between Ex and Savage I assume? I know Ex is at the limit of what I enjoy in terms of guides , need for strategies, and fight style.
I also suggest you think about making sure people can progress all the way to 100 without needing a static, or to sit in PF for 2 hours waiting for people who are up for a 3 hour session because thats how long it take. I'm not going to be here, but if I was I doubt I'd be interested in running it with 3 people, and certainly not 2 or solo.

Not the case. I do actually still enjoy the game, and - as posted in another thread - recently cleared my first Ex (Recollection Ex) which was quite an achievement for me considering I'm a really poor performer overall.

However, the fact that I still enjoy the game doesn't suggest I think it's perfect and YoshiP can do no wrong. I found the Liveletter disappointing and don't feel the Q&A truly addressed any of the concerns that were raised. You shouldn't watch something like that and come away from it asking yourself why he even bothered taking those questions.

They didn't delay the ultimate because of feedback. They just can't get things done. Yoshida has stated he wants content to be harder. They had to choose between normal and savage Forked Tower and chose savage that only 10% of people will do. Theres no indication they will focus on casual content going forward.
