Glad magic incapacitation has a big role to play now, but BLM won't get access to Water/Aero/Stone because those are "Astral" elements, which is why only WHM can use them =/ I hope they re-evaluate that, but I don't think they will.I would LOVE to see some kind of elemental synergy implemented. For example, if you hit a mob with some water magic, and then follow up with Lightning, it will do extra damage. But that might be too complicated to handle in an MMO I dunno ^^; (At the very least, I'd like to see BLM have access to all elements instead just the basic 3)

Water, Ice and Stone are Umbral elements. Air, Fire, and Lightning are Astral elements.
Conjurer can use natural elements, elements of life. Water, Earth, and Air.
Thaumaturge can use elements that destroy, elements of death. Fire, Ice, and Lightning.

We checked in with the monster team and they let us in on some interesting incapacitation details!
In A Realm Reborn it will be possible to incapacitate some bosses and this will play a role in the overall battle strategy. As an example, we are currently looking into features where if you break off a monster's horn, their attack pattern will change, etc.
We are also reviewing options that allow users to target parts of the monster that can be incapacitated and make it so the graphics will change if you successfully incapacitate that part.
Finally, incapacitation can be accomplished through both physical attacks and magic attacks.

Ah yes, you're right. I assumed it was the other way so that BLM uses Umbral elements whereas WHM controls the Astral elements.
Yeah, no thanks. I think they're good sticking with the specific skills hurt specific parts system, or at least that those do significantly more damage than all others with limb targeting. Your suggestion would only allow Samurai to have a unique position in parties. The current system allows all classes/jobs to have a unique position in parties depending on the monster.Perhaps there can be jobs that are better suited for monster incapacitation, giving them more abilities to exploit these things, such as Samurai or Dark Knight for Physical incapacitation and Red Mage for Magical.
Of course, everyone can do this. There would just be a job that has a bigger chance than others. I think Samurai might be the best fit for this since they're a more tactical job and Dragoon already seems more Skill-heavy. That would let them have their unique purpose in parties.
