I agree with you on the item limit is abit low, I agree with you on theme changes, but I do not agree with you on them being unviable

It’s not that you own houses and apartments. It’s that you’re lucky enough to own both, and give the impression that others should be satisfied with just an apartment, or that apartments being available somehow negates or minimizes the lack of plots available on most servers. I personally don’t know of anyone who’s complaining about the lack of plots that doesn’t already have all the other forms of housing: island, apartment and FC room if they’re in an FC.

For a game where we pay a sub, we should have all housing types available to us. The scarcity of plots is a big deal. Any idea that lends itself towards alleviating that, whether it’s straight up instanced housing, interior size remodel, or giving apartments a range of sizes and features to be a more satisfying housing experience, is a good thing in my opinion. I don’t recall anyone saying that apartments aren’t “viable,” just that they are not equivalent to a housing plot, and that is factually true.

FF's housing has both the best and worst housing at the same time. Best because it's insanely community driven and open, worst because in order to achieve this you kinda have to make it way WAY less accessible.

Speaking as an FF14 interior designer, the big thing I've noticed between housing and decorating systems here in FF14 and other MMOs is like... The variety in FF is just through the roof. If you know about advanced building and glitching techniques, you can litteraly make a freaking spaceship as much as you can make the coziest medieval wooden shack. In GW2 for example, you can make caves, wooden cottages, castles. That's it. Anything that just goes way too far from the in game vibe, forget about it. Somehow I feel like housing in WoW will share the similar trait.

So yeah, if tomorrow people send me screenshots from WoW with the wildest ultra modern penthouses, spaceships, Art Deco mansions, baroque manors, etc. that actually look like freaking IRL stuff, and tell me "Yo everything is cheap and you can take commissions! And we can all visit eachother too!", then yeah, sign me in lol. Until then, FF14's housing IS the best for me, IF you actually own the damn house.

Having said that, I am fully aware that interior designers represent like, 3-5% of the whole playerbase. The rest of the people don't need fancy custom builds, they just want to have a house, lol. And the ability to at least decorate it somewhat, even if that stops at "place everything against walls" level. And WoW is gonna give them just that, they can have a house which they can decorate. In FF right now, in order to have a house, you need to lose your sanity trying to win lottery.

You think I didn't have to be satisfied with my apartment when there was nothing else? I had to make the best of it.Because that's what all I had access to. If I lose my plot, guess what?I gotta get comfortable with the apartment system again until I win another plot.

Apartments aren't your equivalent of plots and that seems intentional. They want to put you on the demolition timer hook. So they will give you a baseline but still make the plots more appealing so you'll take the "bait". And you'll willingly subject yourself to a timer that'll use your sunken cost investment to keep you here.

Again, players asking them to let themselves off the hook so they can quit for as long as like without losing their investment.

If your goal is to keep people here as long as possible. Why would you willingly let them off the hook? Again, you feel better, as a player but as a company, "if it don't make dollars it don't make sense."

This holding back trend is just not okay. Some people talk like "the next patch or the patch after!" is not a long time. This is 4-8 months. It might be longer if they decide to postpone again. I would be happy to see this housing update, but I can not "look forward to it" tbh. The game feels like I am waiting all the time for something to happen. And let's be real. Adding a button to change the interior size can not be rocket science. It's just spaced out content.

I am losing my interest in those housing updates. They were first mentioned 1-1.5 years ago. It's just too long for such a small upgrade.
This info was from the 2nd LL before patch 7.1 came out and I agree, I hope they hurry up and release it, my home in LB has been incomplete since last November when they announced the housing furnishing limit expansion. All we can do is wait and hope it's released sooner than later.

Yoshi-P did mention in the last live letter that he would be talking about housing in the next one before 7.3 so fingers crossed that we get a lot of juicy details and good news about everything then!

I'm looking forward to that and hope we also hear about the interior size upgrade too. I also hope the new limit is double, mansions desperately need double the amount we currently have.

No, it won't. That much I can tell you with certainty.

If ownership of a house was the only thing to make FFXIV appealing to a player, they had plenty of opportunity (and still have that opportunity) to pick up a house by creating a character on a Dynamis world.

Few did and many of those moved back to other data centers because of the lower populations on Dynamis worlds. Most wanted to get their house where they're already playing with their friends. Their friends may not be interested in playing WoW.

Why would they jump games to get a house if that meant they wouldn't be playing with their friends at all?

WoW housing is going to have very little impact on things here. The games are too different and most aren't playing solely for the housing.

Shame all the WoW changes slowly getting implemented right now to make the game console friendly are targeting Xbox, and there probably won't be a PS port in the foreseeable future if ever.

I’d be much more excited if it wasn’t blatantly obvious they’re just going to make any ‘upgrades’ cost the exact same as the literal plot itself, between 8M-20M to upgrade to medium and 20-50M to upgrade to large.

Yes, I’m aware ‘tHaTs cHuMp ChAnGe’ to your average 999,999,999 Gil FFXIV player; the vast majority will pay it effortlessly and chastise anyone who dares complain. But I haven’t figure out how tf everyone else managed to get there (and apparently so easily…). So it’s like they’re promising one thing then actually giving nothing (to me because I’m poor).

Assuming that’s how they do work it, which is extremely likely, if not just because if they even considered another alternative there’d be an absolute furore from the community about ‘They got a large interior but they didn’t have to pay the same amount as me to buy a large plot of land, END THEM YOSHI’. Plus they probably think they can artificially lower the amount of large interiors the server has to deal with if they make it so prohibitively expensive no mortal being can afford it (except FFXIV’s economy isn’t that balanced lol)

The size increase is good for people who need more space, but it won't solve the issue of how hard it is to actually get a house. Just like OP said, it might worsen the housing shortage.

The whole lottery/ward system should be deleted. This game needs collectible instanced houses, similar to ESO. That way every player can finally have a house!
