Do what I did, create or move an alt to one of the new Dynamis worlds and get a plot there, I think there may even be some mansions left but there is definitely hundreds of mediums. I did that when Seraph first went live over two years ago and it made my wait of 7 years for my main getting her own plot much more bearable in Exodus. I had my large in Seraph for over a year and a half before my main won hers in Exodus. That is pretty much all you can do for now or just keep trying on your main and get an apartment or FC room for now.

    I feel it's about time.

BUT i can see why it's taken SE so long, especilly with the fact they have a budget to work with aswell, and having seen more into how they are alotted 40% budget for ALL of FFXIV. And dispite the fact FFXIV earns SO much money to SE, and they work on a limitid budget.

I can excuse SE and give them a little slack why they have not been able to do much.

I am excited for 7.3's live letter part 2, AND 7.4's housing update!

    So hyped and excited.

I feel the update goes in the right direction. It corrects a mistake that was made when wards first released. There never should have been different sizes of plots in the first place. If restructuring wards to reflect this on the outside is not an option for whatever reason, then upgrading interiors to M or L is the next best thing they can do.
There is so much other stuff in this game that defies logic and common sense, that I also don't see my immersion breaking by adding the upgrade feature.

Here is what I think will happen though: The housing update will consist only of an increase in furniture limits and the upgrade feature, completely disregarding the other gazillion problems housing has been having for years. The upgrade feature will be half-baked and have silly restrictions and complications to it, like the changeable interior design does.

World of Warcraft will release their version of housing this or next year, and it will cause a noticeable portion of the FFXIV playerbase to switch games. A good chunk of players only logging in and staying subscribed to keep their houses? Poof. Gone.

If you think housing is gonna save a game I'd like to direct you to star wars galaxys i hear it's housing is amazing. But where is it now?

You're expecting players to give up their long term investment character to play a game for house?

Coming from a Playstation user, that used to play WoW, that cant play WoW cause wows not on console. (played from WoTLK to MoP)

Look on the bright side.Competition for plots is gonna stabilize if that happens ironically helping to make obtaining a plot easier

I believe housing to be a great addition to an MMO, but nothing that will make or break a game by itself.
If FFXIV was in a great spot, a 10+ year old housing system would probably not impact the game that much. Because everything else ist great and fun, right?

But the game is currently slowly spiraling downwards, and in this case, I am confident that delivering a housing update that is found to be lacking, is going to incentivize players to look elsewhere. I'm not saying wards will become completely deserted. But there will be a noticeable shift in numbers.

I agree with you though. Because that shift is going to be a good thing. Current players will get new chances to obtain plots. And also developers will hopefully finally get their sh*t together and bring strongly needed improvements to FFXIV, turning it back into the trendsetting, innovative MMO that it once was, that made so many players fall in love with it in the first place.

I agree that “bigger on the inside” doesn’t solve the housing problem, it just makes it nicer for those of us that wanted a Large house but haven’t been able to get one. I really want to make my house bigger on the inside. HOWEVER I completely agree that we need this for apartments! We also need to be able to change the design of the apartment interior, for example to the minimalist design. Those big pillars just make it really difficult to arrange your furniture and I want the walls to be able to change their color without having to put other walls in front of them and make the space even tinier.

In fiscal year 2022, FFXIV was credited as a “massive contributor” to Square Enix’s success, especially following the Endwalker expansion. The MMO subsegment saw a sharp rise in monthly paying subscribers.
    - That year, the company’s games division brought in ¥279.6 billion (~$2.2 billion USD) in sales, with FFXIV being a major driver.
    - In fiscal year 2024, the launch of the Dawntrail expansion again boosted MMO revenue, helping offset declines in other areas

FFXIV likely generates between $300 million and $500 million USD per year, depending on expansion cycles and subscriber activity.

If we take the estimated annual revenue range for FFXIV $300 million to $500 million USD then 40% would be:
    - 40% of $300 million = $120 million
    - 40% of $500 million = $200 million

As of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025, Square Enix reported net sales of ¥324.5 billion, which is roughly $2.3 billion USD depending on exchange rates. If we treat that as a proxy for their “entire budget” (since companies don’t usually publish a single “budget” figure), then:

    - 40% of ¥324.5 billion = ¥129.8 billion, that’s approximately $920 million USD

Stop giving excuses for their lack of care.

Unfortunately, I an not find the source for this information, but I read somewhere that it's supposed to come in 7.2 or 7.3.
This holding back trend is just not okay. Some people talk like "the next patch or the patch after!" is not a long time. This is 4-8 months. It might be longer if they decide to postpone again. I would be happy to see this housing update, but I can not "look forward to it" tbh. The game feels like I am waiting all the time for something to happen. And let's be real. Adding a button to change the interior size can not be rocket science. It's just spaced out content.

I am losing my interest in those housing updates. They were first mentioned 1-1.5 years ago. It's just too long for such a small upgrade.
