    Webview 2 error fix/Invalid operation on log in

    If you're getting an “Invalid Operation” message when trying to log into FFXIV, the issue is likely with a corrupted or outdated WebView2 Runtime. Here’s a step-by-step guide that worked for me and should fully resolve the issue:

    1.) Download WebView2 Runtime: https://developer.microsoft.com/en-u...-edge/webview2
    -> Download the Evergreen Standalone Installer (not the bootstrapper).
    -> Don't run it yet.

    3.) Boot into Safe Mode:

    -> Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.

    -> Go to the Boot tab, check Safe boot (Minimal), then restart your PC.

    4.) Delete Corrupted Files:

    ->Navigate to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft

    -> Delete the entire EdgeWebView folder.

    5.) Install WebView2:

    ->While still in Safe Mode, run the installer you downloaded in Step 1.

    6.) Exit Safe Mode

    -> Open msconfig again.

    -> Under the Boot tab, uncheck Safe boot and restart normally.

    7.) Fix Any Missing DLL Errors

    -> If you get a system error about a missing .dll file (like msedge_elf.dll), go to: Settings > Apps > Installed Apps
    -> Find Microsoft Edge, click the three-dot menu, then choose Modify > Repair.

    After doing this, FFXIV should launch and log in without any issues.
