    The PLL response to OC issues was underwhelming

    I really don't have a ton to say here. It's almost like they took a single person's feedback and rolled with it. To those who missed it, his response boiled down to three points:
    • We agree FT:B is too hard to queue into, so we will let you enter instanced with full premades. Also, FT:B will be blocked by and block CEs.
    • Atmas won't be buffed.
    • Bunny coffers and pot coffers won't be buffed because we actually think we were too rewarding in Eureka.
    • There was no casual forked tower because we didn't have the budget.

    Whilst I acknowledge the FT:B was an issue, it was far from the only issue and there has been a lot of feedback about other things. Really the Atma "grind" is fine and I don't think he should have mentioned it, it is a one time step that takes a few days. I also feel like people were far more concerned with the reward structure from bronze/silver world chests than bunny/pot chests.

    I'm surprised we didn't here him talk at all about any of the other common complaints. He actually addressed more complaints with CE (which is mostly fine besides the GP issue) than OC. He didn't take about:
    • The reward structure from bronze/silver chests
    • Lack of duels
    • Other issues people had with phantom jobs (e.g. most feel bad in solo play and are not innovative)
    • No reason to spawn specific CEs
    • Knowledge level feeling completely pointless
    • Drop rates for carrots requiring on average 1,000,000 bronze chests to get the achievement for 1,000 bunny chests (or just be rich i guess)
    • Many other minor issues players had (like having to run to CEs being very annoying and unfun at some point)

    The live letter ended up being extremely tone-deaf on feedback. A very poor response from Yoshi-P.

    The sad thing is I think he addressed these two indirectly. He specifically stated he thought the rewards were sufficient, and that he had gotten chest that were too good in the past?????

    He did admit he was off the mark, but dude wanted us fighting over these rates.

    I just ... this combined with the " normal is too expensive" , and " we didn't like it when raiders were able to raid with their friends in DRS" is just blowing my mind.

    I cant tell whats worse? This or wow lead Ion's insistence to not pull the ripcord.

    To me it's clear that he's stuck in the design choices for OC. They only really relented on making it easier to enter as premade, and the weather spawning outside CE.

    Contrast this with CE where they seemed to implement lots of QoL changes based on the feedback.

    I agree but I find it so odd, most players who did both Bozja and OC on content will tell you OC is absolutely a worse Bozja.

    I agree that at certain points it's a worse Bozja.

    Bozja had:
    Slower spawning fates, meaning you didn't feel the stress of having to constantly run from fate to CE to fate to CE.
    Fates and CEs were much more varied. OC only has four CEs and fates that aren't 100% boss fates.
    Bozja had around 48 fates and CEs, versus 28 in OC. This means that you didn't feel like you did the same fates/CEs all the time.
    Had CLL as the capstone of the content, something everyone was able to enter and had a reasonable chance to clear with a group of random players.

    Of course Bozja had its own problems, but I think for most people the positives out weighed the negative.

    The skeevy part is that it's not being mentioned from the get-go that OCs raid was specifically tailored to Savage or Ex difficulty and that it wasnt meant for everyone to be able to enter. Basically waiting till everyones sub was in the middle of the pack and the content released for at least a week before saying "lmao whoops forgot to mention this isn't supposed to be for everyone". After the PLL, my sub has been cancelled. I was really hoping this would be something I could use to enjoy my time for the next couple months. Yoshi P has lost my trust after that PLL on "please look forward to it" anymore.

    Also the whole Y: "The simple answer on why we didn't have a normal and savage version is cost, I know this doesn't "matter" for a customer" -- just basically confirms that SE has been skimping on paying FFXIV even moreso after the new CEO who "loves Final Fantasy XIV" was put in place. Shameful.

    There's a lot of good and bad with OC.

    I like that the environment is colorful and interesting to run around in...not more of the Bozja brown/gray. I want more to do in this zone.

    I like the Phantom Jobs in theory and love seeing the old FF jobs, but I hate having to use the duty action button to activate abilities on controller now that it cycles through them. I wish we could just drag them to the crossbar or hotbar and have them be generic ability icons that automatically change to the actual job ones like the PvP role actions.

    The lack of the party finder function in the instance is rough. Either the chat box is full of people shouting "LFG CE/Fates" or "LFG gold farm"...or it's people telling others to form parties outside the instance and then queue in together which is so cumbersome.

    I haven't gotten to the Tower stuff yet, but while I did BA and had to skip DRS...the lack of a normal mode raid for story reasons kinda stings. DR was nice to have and easier way to access the story after going through BA for the lore/story bits. I don't really have a lot of time to commit to raids anymore, but I still like to play XIV for the story.

    The endless cycle of run, teleport, run, return, wait on the crystal, run again is not thrilling gameplay. The CE fights can be really fun, but fates just fall over and if you're not paying attention to the map you'll miss them.

    Speaking of the map and teleport crystals...the map centering on the player is getting a bit old when you really need to quickly click on an aethernet shard to get the next fate, but then either scroll up and down the list or drag the mouse around the map.

    I know this is the default teleport aetheryte map behavior for xiv and some maps are just really big, but it would be so nice to have it stop centering on us, give us a zoom in/out like on the real map. Or just make the aethernet maps scale into the window with the shards on top of everything or make the window a little wider so it looks more like this:

    It takes too long to get the weather to enter FT, you have to skip CEs when it's close to spawning, problems with snipers.

    Solution: FT weather now takes LONGER to spawn because CEs block it. Also since there's no CE distracting people, you have a MUCH higher chance of getting snipers or just people show up randomly.

    The chest logic also makes no sense - the rewards from previous exploratory missions have not ever been "too much" as he says. Why else would you have multiple mounts/glams/minions/etc selling for millions on the MB. They are worth that because of rarity.

    Of course, there's no mention of the normal chests (bronze/silver), only the bunny (pot) chests. I'd love to hear the logic of why they took all the coveted items from Eureka/Bozja and added them as trash drops from chests to the point that they're worthless now.

    So we end up with an objectively worse exploratory mission than the ones before it, AND it neuters previous content to take away incentive for most of it.

    This wasn't playtested and just feels like a burned out dev team squeezing out another content slurry while counting down the hours till they can clock out.

    OC just feels like they took the most surface level criticism from the old field content and decided to make its own zone (things like phantom jobs being an answer consumable actions not realising that consumables also created an item economy. Spawning eureka NM’s being too cryptic and slow so everything either spawns by default or takes like 3 mobs to spawn. Bozja being “ugly” despite that being thematic so the new zone is pretty though relatively uninteresting from a navigation perspective (the mhach/amdapor corner is an exception and is fantastically designed)

    They stuck this all together and realised the new zone isn’t an “exploration zone” but a glorified fate train in the vein of Zadnor Z3 when you were grinding for rays that didn’t even have duels or dal to break it up so they decided to randomly inject a “cryptic” system into it which is where the awful forked conflict with the rest of the zone comes from

    It’s strange because their LL response to cosmic hits just about every problem cosmic has and I’m genuinely excited for the next cosmic zone but OC it feels like they still think that the zone is “right” and are doing the minimum tweaking possible

    As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.

    I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess

    I resubbed after a six month break despite everyone's impressions of this content because i have waited like 4 years since the last field op. This really is just the worst parts of Eureka and Bozja. Does anyone like this relentless pace where if you're not camping an aetherite staring at the map you might not make it to a fate in time?
