Expecting people to do split clears to get ready for an ultimate is kind of ridiculous, I dont think its necessary.
Unrelated to the live letter and to that issue though, alt jobs gearing does suck.

if the goal is to be done by week 8, and you have 2-3 alt jobs you want to be able to play for the ultimate, it's very much a thing. Again the gearing is the real issue in that regard, but until they actually listen to us about that, we play the game how we're able to. 8 weeks of splits means 8 people effectively got 2+ sets of coffers in addition to 8 books, which is barely enough to gear 3 jobs if you don't account for tome upgrade materials. Obviously not everyone will play 3 jobs, but it just more fuel to the fire about my initial issue of, had we been given prior notice of no 7.3 ultimate, we wouldn't have had to do that in the first place
what person cycles 3 entirely different classes during ult prog? that sounds like a very weird thing to doif the goal is to be done by week 8, and you have 2-3 alt jobs you want to be able to play for the ultimate, it's very much a thing. Our flex player was geared to play melee, phys range, and every caster except SMN as we needed to find 2 people for the ultimate. Obviously we don't have find them now, but since they could play it, we geared them for it so it would make recruitment easier.
This is likely to happen every expansion now. You never know when the Ultimate will release, so you're forced to complete all 3 tiers. Feels like a deliberate move.

As someone who is still on Crystal, characters with Ultimate weapons are way more prevalent now....as are bought runs. When I was on Crystal, I never saw a single Ultimate weapon except in a dungeon once (it was a Dragoon). Then I transferred to Aether and everyone had one. Almost everyone I knew or had a passing interaction with had one. The contrast in Limsa between Crystal and Aether before we had DC travel was massive. It shows that given a better environment ie. PUG ultimate culture on Aether, that it can transform how many people do even that content.
Hard to know how many people nowadays actually went through the effort to get them.

People could have bought runs on Crystal back before DC travel. But the lack of visible weapons anywhere indicated to me that buying them wasn't common. Lots of people had them on Aether because people actually were able to genuinely do the content easier there, or were interested in doing raids instead of RP.
Buying does happen but it really seems like an overblown meme to me that people use to discredit most others who earned it. Dying to a dungeon boss could happen because they just ignore dungeons most of the time, or are playing a job they don't normally play to shake things up, but people will jump on that.

I understand the sentiment and I don't want to be completely dismissive but this is a lot.
A casual hardcore player as myself would be able to be ready for the ultimate playing casually in a static or savage, it will definitely take more than 8 weeks but I can do it at my own pace without having to take PTO.
I personally think that telling 2 months in advance is fine, well at least for my job it gives me plenty of time to apply for PTO if I wanted to go world first / hardcore.
The 3 issues I see in your situation are more related to your own goals and choice.
1- Wanting to clear fast (8 weeks)
2- Wanting to have multiple classes geared
3- The lack of motivation to clear savage if an ultimate is not released after.
These 3 issues could be fixed with 2 solutions to be fair:
1-Unlock the tier faster if an ultimate is announced, giving time to either start a savage tier later without being penalized and/or gear more jobs
2-Fix the gearing system with options such as unlocking the alternative ways to get gear faster such as hunts, alliance raids, criterion dungeon, etc. and maybe add more of them. Other options would be welcome too but I can't come up with anything else at the moment. ><

I appreciate the response for it and I do know about those, my point is I don't think they should be necessary when there are important bits like that discussion in the beginning; these should be already translated. (Also I should point out my comment earlier was about that, not so much that we aren't getting Ultimate. I'm not super mad about that point) The second part of the Live Letter was fine being the way it was.It does get translated but it takes some weeks for them to do it. It would be nice if they did it, but meanwhile, I'd suggest just listening to the unofficial one (hardly anyone seems to listen to this and seem unaware it exists): https://www.youtube.com/@ilunari/streams
They do summarize the points. It's all translated on the forums and summarized in the Live Letter forum. You can go back and read their summaries of all the past live letters. But content creators do that as well, and much faster.
I ran into a big problem this time when three different sources had three different translations, which is uncommon.

I'm pretty sure they've said in the past they can't guarantee a set schedule for Ultimates.
So you made assumptions based on nothing and put in work you had no assurance was going to be necessary and now you're getting mad.
You also do this after the LL that slapped casual and midcore players in the face by telling them when there was a choice between normal FT and hard FT, they chose the version that excludes more of the playerbase. Now you're here whining you don't get more exclusive content when you want it.
Before you start, I'm a Savage raider. I've eaten well this expansion. But you just sound completely entitled.
