87th PLL showcases a need for change in announcing content

I am quite incensed at the casualness of Yoshi-p in announcing there was no 7.3 ultimate

Why?!

Because to me, I saw no regard for player-base and what it is needed to actually prepare for an ultimate release if you intend to raid at a hardcore level.

No regard to the time and energy spent running splits because of the awful gearing system
No regard for the time spent to organizing gear & loot for people and alt jobs
No regard for the energy and effort required to put out recruitment postings, sifting through applications, interviews & trials
No regard for the dart-board game we play with trying to predict our paid-time off requests
No regard for the preparations I have to make IRL for the release

Yoshi-P and the leaders at SE need to get with the times of 2025 and realize that waiting until 2 months before a supposed patch release date is not acceptable or respectful to us who put so much time and effort into preparing for these releases. Regardless of their cultural disdain for failing to deliver on promises, it should be apparent that raiding in any MMO at a hardcore level requires a decent amount of time, effort, and dedication. And to shy away from respecting their players so they can save face down the road is honestly just a slap in the face to us.

How long have they known there would be no 7.3 ultimate? How long have they been reading and monitoring the player-base talking about the 7.3 ultimate? Are they aware that we rely so heavily on them being consistent with content cycles and patch releases to plan our raiding is solely due to the fact that they refuse to announce anything concrete until a few weeks before a patch releases?

Do they not understand the concept of just telling us what content will be confirmed for a patch, regardless of release date? Do they not understand that even just telling us a month in the year that a patch release is better than waiting until 2 weeks beforehand? It seems to me that this is a showcase of a dev team that does not understand the environment they've created and what impacts it has on us that choose to try and enjoy this game at a high level

Honestly, Yoshi-P and his leadership team need to break with their constant tradition and timidness by producing actual content roadmaps and giving us more notice for content release dates. The world of today does not operate on a 2-week lead-time for almost anything. Not even their own game allows people to prep for an ultimate 2 weeks before a patch release.

I think they need to have better translation in general. I didn't even know about no Ultimate in 7.3 until some fan group said so in a social media post. And then you'll have conflicting translations.
Having that first part not translated except the slides was so crazy to me.

Im actually quit happy that there is no Ultimate in 7.3, me personally thinks the second Ultimate is better placed after the third tier because the time between the third tier and the new expansion is way way more drought then 7.3 - 7.4, and dont get me wrong i get what you mean but "Yoshi-P and the leaders at SE need to get with the times of 2025 and realize that waiting until 2 months before a supposed patch release date" just doesnt suit me, the playerbase has maybe just to accept that not everything has to go with the time

They need to have a translator there - I have no idea why they're still doing it this way when the majority of active players don't understand Japanese.

There's also a serious need for them to manage the time they devote to certain topics better. They spent 15 minutes talking about chat bubbles for god's sake.

i personally like the idea of a 7.51 ultimate as well, my issue here is that we don't get sufficient prior notice of what content will actually be in a patch cycle until we're either already committed or we have spend it playing catch up. It's not that hard to for them to just post a roadmap say what content they're planning for each major patch cycle

Because it highlights a major concern: inconsistency and unpredictability with release windows.

Aside from TEA, which was impacted by the pandemic and was therefore the sole release during ShB, all Ultimates have released during the X.1 and X.3 patch cycles. It's not unreasonable for players to have anticipated this upcoming patch would have the next one, but the devs frequently decide to switch up their content drops without warning. It's impossible to anticipate when anything is coming out anymore.

Better to ask, what's even the purpose of the live letter to be a live stream? Why can it not simply be recorded and summarize the points?

If there are more details to be shared, just have an interview.

Honestly I even stopped watching live letters because of the absurd time and slackiness they take to get through it. Instead, I just quickly read the fan translations and be done with it.

but in reality, they're much more than just content for the 1% of raiders. They're also large social media content, viewership content, engagement with the larger community content. Just because you don't play in the NFL doesn't mean you can't enjoy an NFL game.

Regardless of how people feel about ultimate as a content piece, my main argument today is that SE needs to change their timelines for actual announcements of said content.

I would've had no issues if we knew back before 7.2 or even with a few weeks of 7.2 release that there was no 7.3 ultimate. That way I wouldn't have wasted my time and energy organizing a HC static with 8 weeks of splits to account for alt jobs and gearing, not to mention the actual time spent doing the splits themselves
