Even if it's like a Criterion boss, it's still better than a Criterion dungeon, because part of the issue with Criterion is that beating 1 boss isn't enough. You still have a bunch more to go.

Yeah I agree, we'll see if they change Criterion on that a bit (maybe give some daily rewards for each boss or something).
Criterion just needs to axe its highest difficulty and instead add one above normal.
That’s what players originally wanted or expected instead of easy, savage, ultimate more or less.
A dungeon slightly below ex difficulty could actually be the content, this community needs right now.
Edit:
In an ideal world we would have all difficulties but you know…

I mean, sure, why not. The question remains : what is the reward structure that goes with it ?Criterion just needs to axe its highest difficulty and instead add one above normal.

I personally think that chaotic has a good reward structure prototype for that with different “tiers” for the different difficulties with a mix of savage rewards put in.
Glamour -> dyable glamour -> weapon
Without an ultimate difficulty and the “savage” one of criterion (the now middle one) it’s not too impossible to get it and you don’t need to be bis of bis to attempt it.
You could also make it so variant give farmable currency to “unlock” dyeing of the gear (farmable like the currency in chaotic).
The highest difficulty reward should be exclusive to that difficulty but still reachable by normal players like savage is now.
Of course my ideas probably have weaknesses as well because I never cleared the highest difficulty of criterion and can say if a weapon for the right now middle difficulty would be enough.
But from what I have seen people would like this content to be an alternative gearing option to savage?
In that case the highest difficulty reward should also cap at savage difficulty imo.
Edit:
I worded it poorly.
With the correct reward structure of chaotic I meant the currency in there. Not that the rewards there were depentend on the difficulty.
The later one is an idea for criterion.

you need to make people want to stay in the game.. content like Castrum in Bozja and the likes made most wanting to do it at least 5 to 50 times+ dependent of persons... mostly because it made everyone feeling usefull doing certain parts of the content and the more hardcore players being able to step in and assiste in areas, that needed just a little bit more help to make it perfect.
It is that direction you want to go Yoshi P. the way so everyone in a way feel important, have a good adventure... being horrible at the content but others to seriously being able to lift that up.
Why keeping on swaying away from that approach and thinking... lets make it so it is again the top 2% able to do it... and in a few months... they can sell on sites clears for people that is inept of it.
The scoundrels! But we have heard the complaints of the Upper-class High-end, and because its the easiest change to make, we are helping the discord cartel savage player get what they want, and making it easier for them to pull the ladder up after themselves, and enter with full complete exclusive premades.
Assuming that they can get both criterion and chaotic on alternate patches ( say criterion on the release of the raid tier, and chaotic on the off patches, and right away)
And also assuming chaotic is slightly easier ( to serve as catchup)
My ideal ( since everyone complains they can't gear alts/ weaker players may need gear for savage)
On criterion -> completion gives tokens that can trade for raid books, where x amount of runs on normal gives you a book, and savage gives you enough for a book on the spot. ( weekly cap, book2,3, and 4 open up every 2 weeks) There, more gear for alts/ more pity from bad drops.
For chaotic -> Why not have a clear give out upgrade tokens that transform gear +5 il to match the raid weapon + the custom set. Why not who cares at this point, its been 4 months weaker players getting gear upgrades wont hurt, and people like bigger number. On top of the mounts and minions. Also just unlock savage loot lockout on the release of the even patches screw it. For ultimate, just balance around having it, im sure every ultimate raider would farm their tokens in like a day.
The problem is this will never happen, because we cant even afford a normal mode.
Tbh...I'm not sure why anyone would trust them to make the next expansion great when they botched this one so bad.
It's like how some people keep wanting them to sundown Final Fantasy 14 in general and get started on the next Final Fantasy MMO. Like... did nobody remember how THIS one panned out? What possible faith is there to put into the next one? Hell, from the sounds of it they can't even get enough money or manpower RIGHT NOW.
+++
I feel like if this game can't even get the appropriate funding to do all the things it should be doing for a game panned to have a decade worth of planning behind it, then the possibility of actually getting a substantive new FF MMO is very very slim.
All they'll continue to do is wince out as much money from this as they possibly can, whilst routinely searching for more ways to make the entire development pipeline conform to a spreadsheet.
That being said, and to be honest the more I think about it, the more I find myself wondering whether all of this was just sheer.... 'accidental' success/
