If they brought back the demiclone system then a harder one-off floor 99 boss makes sense, since demiclones utterly trivialize the fight otherwise. It was a big flaw of the system in EO where demiclones weren't really worth using on normal floors (in a group, anyway) and people tended to just save a bunch of onion knights to kill the 99 boss before it could do anything.

Dunno if that's the actual reason, but it's a possibility.

I think the reason is more because they want to “give something new” ti the deep dungeons or because this fight will be an enemy that actually matters compared to the throwaway ones from the deep dungeons before.

If it is ex difficulty for 4 people then I don’t see a problem honestly.
If it is another criterion difficulty though then they deserve to be called out for proof that they can’t go one single patch without catering to the hardcore crowd.

Regarding the 'harder' boss of the Deep Dungeon, did I understand it right that it's not necessary to do it to complete the DD per se, but that it only unlocks as an optional fight after completion of the duty?

Because that way it would at least not impact a run for let's say a solo player.

Yes, it doesn't impact solo players. Which is why I'm not as negative about it like other people in here. It's the boss of the 99th floor apparently, just in a 4 man trial version.

Yeah I wanted to give my reward and respect for communicating, but really there is only one thing they should have been saying it seems.

"We spent the casual budget on Savage Chaotic and upcoming Savage Deep Dungeon. We are sorry for that, with hindsight, clearly we shouldn't have after the feedback we already had from Endwalker"

But they didn't say that.
So the only reason I'm not pissed at them is they are still human and my outrage it so topped out, no one should have to deal with that, and its rolled over to zero again.

Dude can you please stop crying? I mean for real now, FFXIV is a MMORPGs, MMORPGS are based on ENDGAME Activitys which in 95% of the cases are Challenging Fights if you dont wanna improve or do anything in this Direction, the Game is maybe not for you anymore, we had the past Years only easy laughable fights, now this Expansion goes more in the Direction harder Fights, so accept it or leave the Game.

Btw its ONE FIGHT in DD which is Savage, the rest of DD is still Casual, and the fact that there is a Fight to unlock is a reason to do DD so maybe the new DD isnt dying so fast like EO did, so at the end its a clearly win for Casuals.

I agree. It's way to early to comment on the DD end instance, and I was getting too outraged over mere hearsay.

I'm still shocked that I spently predicted months ago OC would have a savage set piece but no normal.
Its just gobsmacking after Chaotic.
They do need to bin any future Chaotics for now if it's going to be another 24 man body check.

Well I realise the answer is simple, you just don't get to do any new content, until or unless you have done new casual content that all can access.
If you can then afford a hard version of said new content only then do you get to go ahead.

Well when that innovation is a savage content that is inaccessible and so might as well not exist, well... duh!
Well when that innovation is a reskinned Deep Dungeon, without a casual static (oxymoron) that you can only do 1/3 of, and the innovation is a Savage end instance, that's not accessible and so might as well not exist, well... duh!

Its too early to say that it the DD instance will be savage, and require true savage progging. But noone should be surprised if the benefit of the doubt is no longer available, and we'll wait for proof to the contrary rather than the other way around.
M1-4 (without OP gear) are prof that challenging midcore is possible.
CE's are proof that challenging midcore is possible. (but you cant then say "thats your lot now, we did a better job of CE's, and so we're taking away 'the set piece'" like Bozja Castrum)

But you really need to make sure your casual content is engaging. (Like CE's were) and not braindead, like a lot of it has become. Your casual does not consider itself to be the same as the solo plater who wants zero resistance, and just wants to read the quest dialog, and probably just as happy to solo, enjoys just pressing X in fates be they battle or gathering.

You mean like the entirety of occult crescent except that one singular thing named forked tower? Like we can all agree that all the CEs, the fates, the chests and the gold farm are all casual content, right?

They are making normal and "savage" for anything else in OC, Forked Tower is screwed though. Gets a premade PF thing but in the end, when they do it in 7.3 it'll just be Discord content again.

Odd that they’re going to do it for Magic and leave Blood as is… we get the next relic step in 7.3, but when will North Horn come out? 7.4? That’s not enough time to just duplicate FTB and tweak the settings for a Normal mode, while adding in the PF option for the current one? Oh well, I guess it’ll be easier to get a discord group to go with at least, but I doubt I’ll be able to get it done before North Horn and I’m still upset with the field notes/TT card being in non-story-mode.
