    Ishgard/Shayalan

I may have missed it, or just don't remember.

Has it been mentioned why Ishgard has never done anything in-game besides give us the over-abundant male chocobos? And Shayalans out of nowhere build us the aetheryte portals in the city-states.

Why did they not help us at all with the Empire, they are a city-state as well and reside in Eorzea, so shouldn't they be part of the Grand Companies?

Do they have magitek as well to fight against dragons that they loathe so much. Also were they in that fight with Midgarsohmr and the Arguis?

I mean Ala Mihgo has had more sotry line than the two other city-states and it's destroyed.

Are they even gonna be around in 2.0

Ishgard stands alone and refuses to be a part of the alliance.
We have peaceful relations, but they tend to themselves for the most part.

As far as I know when it comes to Ishgard, they are all about killing dragons. That's it. If it doesn't have to do with killing dragons, it doesn't interest them.

It was mentioned that during the last alliance they were part of it but cut ties with the alliance and refused to join again.

Haven't seen any dragons in-game over 15 years, or heard any news from the reported NPCs. So dragons must not be around at the moment, so they should be help ing us with the obviously more imminent threat. Better to have allies than stand-alone aginst something that has a superiority over you.

Ishgardians are probably down with the Imperials, look at how snooty their NPCs are, you can barely tell the difference!

As far as I know, Ishgard closed its gates to outsiders around the time the Garleans attacked Eorzea 15 years ago. Their Archbishop didn't want any "non-believers" to enter the city. The dragons do exist, although we haven't seen them because they mostly hail from Dravania (which is also the region Sharlayan is in).

Answer: Though many of the races experienced rocky pasts, currently, tolerance is, for the most part, the norm in Eorzea. The main reason behind this being that the region is a veritable melting pot of races who have worked together throughout recent history to survive the hardships thrust upon them. This does not mean that there are do not exist groups which are significantly more closed-minded. For example, while Gridania and Limsa Lominsa are fairly open about having dealings with the some of the more amicable beast tribes (such as the sylphs, goblins, and Qiqirn), the sultanate of Ul'dah are wary of the tribes, in part due to their prolonged conflict with the Amalj'aa.

The same can be said regarding religion. Each city-state has a patron (matron) deity, and most people in that city-state will follow the teachings of that god or goddess. There are, for the most part, however, no strict religious codes that must be followed. Some Eorzeans will choose to worship a deity connected to their profession (for example, weavers often follow Nymeia the Spinner). Some follow the deity associated with their nameday. There are even some Eorzeans who choose not to follow the teachings of the Twelve, but they are few and far between...and often will not admit it. The exception to this rule can be seen in Ishgard, where they take the teachings of Halone very seriously...to the point that the church and state have become inseparable. They go as far as calling those who do not follow the Fury 'unbelievers,' and those who are found to have communicated with the dragons of Dravania (the mortal enemies of Ishgard), are branded as heretics and in some cases executed.
