An Incredibly Stale Take: Introduce Rival Wings Roulette, P l e a s e

Please. Just make a Rival Wings roulette with rewards like Frontline, or slightly better because it tends to take longer, to revive the game mode. I just wanna get a queue. I don't even wanna have EXP. I just wanna have a roulette that's fun.

I don't think anyone disagrees with this and we have mentioned it before. SE has just ignored the obvious issue for years. Like with every kind of Quality of Life. They only focus on the latest patch content - new dungeon, new raids, new MSQ; anything else is mostly off the radar. If we're lucky we get 5 quality of life fixes for things that have been an issue for 10 years.

I don't even think they are necessarily unaware of it given they regularly add mogtomes to it in an effort to get people to do it during patch lulls.

Rival Wings is the only PVP mode I've ever actually had fun in, and it's tragic that it basically only is playable during Mogtome events. Outside of that it's pretty much kept on life support solely by the community doing scheduled synced queues... which never line up with when I'm both available and in the mood for PVP, so I only ever get to play it like 3 times a year at best.

The way the devs treat the mode in general is bizarre, it almost feels like another "we introduced this during a patch cycle and now we're going to pretend it doesn't exist afterwards in hope everyone else does too" bit except... they still promote it during Mogtome? And yet outside of that it feels completely abandoned, there's still only one map, and the only way most players who've unlocked it would even remember it exists is when it pops up in WT. Which is a shame, because pretty much everyone I know who's played it has the same response, even the ones who don't like PVP - "this is fun, sure wish I could play it outside of 2-3 yearly events".

I agree that Rival Wings is the one you're most likely to have fun in right away. Frontline is more of an acquired taste - it becomes fun once you get good at retreating with the alliances so the enemy teams don't mob you, and when you understand all the objectives and work on them, and when you can hold your own against 1-3 other players without dying. Crystalline Conflict is fun for a lot of people too just because it's made a dynamic experience due to players, and I like direct PvP a lot, which it is much closer to being than the others.

That's why it's a stale take, folks: we may rip each other's heads off over glamour and Forked Tower, but we can all agree Rival Wings roulette would be incredibly good! And that's community.

I miss Rival Wings. I play on Chaos because all my friends are there and the organised Rival Wings PvP groups do it at 2am for me. Sucks to not be able to play it, the music slaps and I really enjoy the battles.

I'm lowkey convinced that the devs have a target amount of roulettes they hold as a cap under the thought that adding too many of them would make the game less friendly for people with less time to play per day *cough*
And they do stick to this like to the holy scripture.

I wonder if part of it is worry that if they have a frontlines and rival wings roulette the players will split between the two and potentially increase queues? Which wouldn’t make much sense since everyone does their roulette once a day, so they’d be queuing for both surely.

But yeah I really see no logical reason not to have this. And that’s even as someone who could never really get into Rival Wings.
