One thing I never understand about square and the design team is why they leave out a lot of common-sense things in this game.

For instance, why did they design the Phantom Village with no seats in the general area for folks to sit down in instead of having everyone stand by the portal? I know most portal standing players are people that were afked out of instance, but geeze at least they could have put in a park area with benches and stuff. Its just people standing around everywhere.

I like to think that over time, they'd add more stands or rest areas in the future, like how some Tribal Societies change as WoL progresses through their side quest.

What's the point in having grass everywhere? And weather? The moon?

The whole thing would be a lot more efficient if they tore all of that off and let us play on the snap grid.

I think you are critically misunderstanding the point, it's not "I am tired of standing around all day can we get some benches?", it's "it would be aesthetically pleasing for there to be a few benches around that area so that people can /sit before they afk".

Anyway, I personally kinda like vibe with the lack of benches mostly because it communicates the point of our expedition using a place that wasn't meant for our purposes, however, I also wouldn't be opposed to a couple benches in that area if they looked like they didn't belong, like made of rough wood since it was made by our group, rather than already being there.

I wish the paths always accounted for routes to places and accounted for chocobos. As an avid chocobo rider, I can normally find roads to places suited for chocobos but it requires navigating the long way round because SE didn't consider it for all routes. In other cases, there are only stairs making it difficult for chocobos. And sometimes they just forgot a path or ran it into a dead end.

But the phantom village has seats... I've been AKF on them several times after running around the south horn, gives the place almost a cute little park feeling thanks to the large fountain, if you meant inside the south horn then there are seats there too at the camp that I've been half AFK on often as well...

What I could say is that there aren't that many seats, but like, I've never seen that be an issue with others using the benches and people will just AFK however anyway? I've personally been AFK in the fountain too, just floating around, and as you said most who are AFK just timed out of the instance anyway so of course they are just standing there, I really don't get this complaint unless you're just wound up about the lack of seats right in front of the entry?

If you have ever been to japan, good luck finding a seat or public bench anywhere.
