I agree with you in principle, but equally entering content, joining a party, and then criticizing said content in chat seems a little off to me.

Like a major reason so much of the content is crap is that people dutifully queue into it as if it's some sort of moral obligation. If you don't like content, leave reasons why here, and don't engage with it.

SE is obsessed with participation numbers. Non-participation is one of our few pressure points to create change.

I agree that feedback would be better with being put on various forums but at times it feels square enix and the devs don't read any of the feedback or take months/years to actually act on it.

One curious exception over the DT era is PvP and specifically Frontline, which I'll share here to remind SQEX they can actually do things well.

Briefly, FL was in the doldrums from mid-EW to 7.1. A stale, solved meta that basically had a single winning formula, making a small subset of jobs in a premade the path to victory.

Many of us complained here and offered a range of suggestions.

In 7.1, significant changes were made, about 30% reflecting the pleas of the players, with another 70% being completely out of the blue and quite terrible.

And there was a wailing and a gnashing of teeth.

So again we explained why the bulk of these changes were a disaster, and remarkably in 7.2 a lot of our complaints were addressed. Further tweaks have been made since then, largely in line with player feedback.

It's not all sunshine and lemoncakes given two of the maps are actually PvE, but job design and combat are now pretty good.

My guess is PvP can respond more rapidly because the mode is basically in its own little bubble, but equally I really believe PvP devs regard the players as a resource for ideas and improvements, rather than a hostile horde that should be ignored.
