It would be fun if they changed up the formula.
-Make each run unique with different enemies
-Play with the layout more, not just a bunch of squares together but multiple pathways
-A daily deep dungeon roulette that puts a group of players in a completely randomized set of 10 floors with a random theme+enemies+boss

Honestly, my memories of the deep dungeon in EW are pretty short lived. I remember dropping it after a couple of days due to how tedious it felt. But that's just how I am; I don't think the content's for me.
The only thing this expansion can give me that might make me happy are variant dungeons, and an increase on the furniture cap in APARTMENTS as well as houses. OC was such a letdown for me. I feel dumb for putting so much hope in it being good and long lasting. It's so stupid that you can't level an alt job in it, or store up phantom job exp so that you can level alternate phantom jobs while playing the phantom job that you -actually like-. And there's no casual largescale raid option like how bozja had delubrum normal and castrum and dalriada in addition to DR savage. This one literally all builds up to some hyper coordinated raid that most of the casuals who wanted OC aren't even interested in learning. And then the people who DO want to run it can't even get their group synced into the same instance because IMAGINE just letting people queue into stuff like they did for DRS.

idk man. DT's story was ass, but the raids and the trials and the dungeons have been cool, so I had a lot of faith in OC but nah this wasn't it for me. I don't think deep dungeon will magically be more fun than the boring thing it's always been for me. You know what, though. OC had some fun fights. I think there's someone on their team who's great at making fights, but not good at all the stuff around those fights. so maybe variants will be cool, since all they have to do is design multiple paths to get to a cool fight. i imagine the paths to get there might be boring af, but the fights themselves will be cool and that's at least a 7/10 experience for me.

Pirates and Sahagin have been driven out by <stock image> aliens from planet whatever. Whole place is loaded with scifi <stock image> machinery, while a giant brain in a <stock image> glass container plots to destroy the multiverse in its entirety. There will also be a lot of scifi stock images there, so I hope you're all excited by now!

EO requires more prior knowledge of what the mobs do because they have specific tells linked with instant wipe mechanics. The boss fights also reflect this and feature more prominently. However, once you have that knowledge, your success rate is much more consistent (especially when you're considering solo runs with less room for error). The higher reliance on scripted mechanics means that auto damage on the whole is much lower. So there's an initial learning curve but then it becomes much more comfortable. I'd expect that the next Deep Dungeon will follow this trend as well and be closer to EO than PotD/HoH in design.

My hope is that the next Deep Dungeon tries to innovate by looking at what current roguelite games are doing with the genre. I'd love to see a Hades style boon system where you have to develop a build as you progress through your run. OC's job system would actually be perfect for this, but I know that they would never break from the formula like that.

My expectation is that Nightmare Pegasus/Dodo/Orthos Craklaw end up 'accidentally' being on the bronze sack loot list and they crash the market incentives for running older Deep Dungeons completely, before tearfully apologizing in a follow-up live letter.

Thank you for confirming what I suspected.
EO is definitely a bad turn the mode has taken. I hope the coming one goes back to the roots (heavy copium).
I also wish they doubled down on the roguelike aspect of the mode of which it is so obviously inspired from.

Not really. Eureka Orthos is horrible. Raha needs to clean his own basement, preferably with a nuke. The combination of HP sponge mobs and gotcha mechanics makes it painful.

Not at all excited. In fact I keep forgetting they are making one for DT.. Eureka Orthos wasn't even that amazing because it's same copy paste a few new mobs from the previous 2 deep dungeons.

If it's something new and interesting, then sure. If it's another reskin of Palace of the Dead, then not so much.
