Suggestion: Improvements to the Marketboard & Retainers System

Here are some ideas to enhance the Marketboard and Retainer system in FFXIV to improve player experience, bag management, and trading efficiency.
  1. Allow Partial Stack Purchasing (Buyer-Controlled Quantities)
    • Players should be able to buy only the number of items they need from a listed stack.
    • Currently, buyers are forced to purchase the entire stack, even if they only need a portion.
    • This leads to wasted gil and unnecessary bag clutter.
    • Leftover items often sit unused or discarded, especially for crafters/gatherers.
  2. Seller Stack Flexibility
    • Let sellers choose custom stack sizes.
    • Support for full stacks, half stacks, singles, or specific amounts (e.g. 3, 7, 15, etc.).
    • Encourages a healthier market with more buyer-friendly options.
  3. Improved Marketboard Filtering/Sorting Options
    • Add filters for unit price, total price, stack size, and world.
    • Include a toggle to hide duplicate listings from the same seller.
    • Allow buyers to sort by most cost-effective per unit.
  4. Wishlist and Price Alerts
    • Allow players to track items they’re interested in buying.
    • Add an alert system when prices fall below a custom threshold.
    • Optional toggle to auto-purchase if price conditions are met.
  5. Retainer Comparison View
    • When listing an item, display if it’s already listed by another one of your retainers.
    • Helps avoid undercutting your own listings and improves inventory control.
  6. Transaction History Filters
    • Make the sale history searchable by item name, date, and retainer.
    • Helps players analyze what sells and what doesn’t.
    • Great for crafters, gatherers, and frequent traders.
  7. Smart Pricing Assistant
    • Suggest prices based on the past week/month of sales activity.
    • Display average and median prices to help players stay competitive.
  8. Cross-World Price Notifications
    • If an item is cheaper on a nearby world, show an icon or notification.
    • Encourage better use of World Visit and Data Center Travel features.
  9. Crafting Integration with Marketboard
    • Allow players to check material prices from the crafting interface.
    • Avoids the need to back out just to look up an item’s cost.
  10. Personal Market Kiosk for Housing
    • Add a marketboard terminal housing item for private/FC homes.
    • Could include features like retainer access, crafting orders, and more.

These changes would reduce marketboard frustration, improve inventory use, and encourage smarter trading decisions across the community.
