While I get that achievements are meant to be long-term goals and not necessarily for everyone, it’s hard to ignore how overwhelming they’re becoming. You don’t need to earn every achievement, of course, but with each patch, more and more get added, and for players who can’t be online all the time, it starts to feel incredibly daunting.
The new exploratory zone introduced some pretty extreme ones:
Then there are the hunt mount achievements—1,000 S ranks per expansion, meaning 3,000 total, plus the 6,000 A ranks on top of that.
- Find 1,000 Happy Bunny carrots/chests in OC
- Open 1,000 persistent pot chests
- Open 5,000 chests
And that’s just a handful of examples. So many of these achievements are practically impossible for the average player to complete. The hunt-related ones are particularly tough since spawns happen at odd hours—middle of the night, work hours, times when most people simply can't be online. Now, with the newest ones I've been in here every single day since it came out, farmed chests left and right, and I found two. Two.
I get that this is new content, but SE has a history of adding these types of achievements—just slapping on a massive number and calling it a day. Why not introduce achievements that are actually fun? Collect more mounts or minions, engage in unique challenges, something that isn’t just grinding the same repetitive task thousands of times.
I’m not saying achievements should be easy or handed out freely, but I do worry about the sheer time commitment some of these require. It feels pretty unfriendly to players who can’t play 24/7, making these goals feel more frustrating than rewarding.
