Yea, no one can take away the fun i had clearing those fights. The ship on this for ultimates has already sailed btw with how many people buy or bot clears.
On the one hand, I am sad I won't have a reason to ever cluster farm again. On the other hand, it does temporarily ruin anyone who was multiboxing that content to corner the market, and that's extremely funny
Well yes, they’re a theoretically difficult to obtain thing you can use to show off. They’re so gaudy that I don’t believe anyone can possibly like the design on its own merits and they’re usually barely a hair ahead of the savage weapon. I’m sure you’ve had tells complementing you and asking where some gear or mount is from; 500 gil on the mb seems like such a boring answer to have to give.
I remember not too long ago Mr P was talking about how much care goes into managing the player economy and flow of gil. Well then.

If he truly care about player economy, he would set up way for massive gil flow back to NPC. One thing GW2 did really good is the player currency exchange for gold. Doubt SE would dare to try it
Not really. For most, at endgame, we've already bought full-priced glams, mounts, and minions way before DT, so I enjoy getting the loot pinata in OC even if I immediately toss it out due to everything being like 10k, which I still prefer over fireworks and ribbons.
Also, for comparison to Ultimate, they've been a source of RMT for years. I see even the latest FRU weapons, and I think, OK, well, what's for lunch now? I figured people do them still the regular way since they enjoy HE content or progging Savage too.
On a semi-related note:
It's fairly likely the 7.3 Mogtome event will also have Return To Oblivion as a reward. It's been memed on in-game how ridiculously rare and expensive the Orchestrion roll is, and it's a great incentive to have people actually interact with the event.
Anyways, even as a Eureka Enjoyer, I'm glad these rewards have tanked in price. They're actually realising that having ridiculously rare items tied to long-dead content isn't ideal for the game as a whole, and I'll happily praise the devs for realising that. There's a decent chance Occult Crescent replaces Eureka entirely in the long-term, so I'm glad those rewards aren't being entirely abandoned.
Instanced housing could become a giant gil sink if they wanted it. Want a house in Limsa, you can get a small for 3 mio. But you can also buy a second, medium house for 10 mio. You want a third house in Ishgard, there's a small cottage on a mountain side for 5 mio.
Have dozens of different locations, and people can buy them all on one character. Would create a giant sink to drain a lot of gil from the system.
I assumed the "Tardis house" system would be one possible gil sink because the idea was that you could buy some Small for a couple of million, but if you wanted the interior to be Large, you had to pay the full-price of said Large. Mind you, that only works as a gil sink for people who actually own a house (and only Smalls and Mediums at that), but it was still one possibility, on top of giving value to all of the Smalls out there that often lie abandoned on a lot of worlds.Instanced housing could become a giant gil sink if they wanted it. Yeah, treasure chest loot seems broken, and I don't know how or even if they can fix thigs. The damage has already been done.
