So how is everyone feeling about Occult Crescent now that it’s been a few days?

I just want to know what their design goals were for FT.

Did they expect it to be something random people did like CLL/Dal. The entry certainly seems to point that way. But then the tower content has hard requirements for certain jobs, and the fights where a single person could potentially screw up and wipe the raid.

The fights seems to be more something you prog, like Extremes, and need to learn, but then the team only get a few pulls to figure out the fight and has to clear it.

Or did they expect it to be organized runs like DRS, but then why have an entry system that makes it a lot more difficult for the team to enter?

Did they start harassing you about it? I'm genuinely just curious to see how people get treated about this.

Usually, I report rude players to the GM since this is unacceptable since the FT entry is open to everyone.

I think it really hit me today. I haven't logged in since Friday. Logged in for like 15 minutes, did a single CE and logged out. None of it matters. Yoshi P better be careful telling people to log out for a while. When you do you realize that they've made all aspects of the game feel unfulfilling. Was really looking forward to this content and man am I super bummed.

I've been doing OC just about every other day since it came out, about 2 to 3 hours a time. I like it a lot! Particularly with friends!
I just finished getting all the little gem pieces I needed, and I have maxed out about 5'ish jobs. Not too bad! I think though that the silver is a little tedious. but at the same time, there are some achievements there that I would like, and so hopefully by focusing on those achievements, I wont notice how long it takes to get all the silver I need for gear sets. I havent had any bad encounters. I've joined a LOT of various parties for farming. So far for mee no troubles. Hmmm. Well, that's about it!

Yesterday I’ve seen a rather uncomfortable exchanges in shout chat when there was this Person A who I recognized their name because they’ve been trying to get enough people to bid enough ciphers in friendly manner to open up the instance. They stated their reason to be “I just want to see the insides it doesn’t matter if we will get a clear or no”.

At some point, somebody… let’s say, Person B—chimes in to warn Person A that first boss will wall them because the existence of 24-man body check despite the entry minimum being set at 16. Nevertheless, Person A insists nicely that it’s fine. They just want to get inside. There’s no need for a clear, again. He asks this nicely, again.

From that point, the chat vibe took a 180° turn when Person B adds ”Alright then, well I guess goodluck inside and hoping to not get blacklisted by a full group ” while keep trying to drown Person A’s plea to get more people. Thankfully Person A didn’t seem to react negatively to that & later gave up when the FTB weather ends.

I think wanting to warn people about the mechanic walling them from a clear is a fair point, but everything else after that was pretty uncalled for. It’s giving off the “Hunt Train owns the A Ranks!!!”-rancid reek.

I think I might know the person you're talking about because I think I saw them a few days ago wanting to get things together and people were like "Well X Discord is organizing the runs" like the Discord owns the instances. That's why I hate that SE brought this toxicity back.

I'd put in a report for anyone that cussed at you or threatened you, since you're playing the game an intended way.

I think content that you cannot even practice doing is poorly made content, but what do I know.

I’ve just come back after a hiatus thinking things might have improved somewhat; I was hoping Occult Crescent could be fun.

I was kinda excited for the phantom jobs because the concept sounded really fun…naturally after playing it I was disabused of any notion that ‘fun’ would be present in this content lol. The exp grind is obviously pretty abysmal. Phantom Mastery means you practically cannot use any job that’s mastered, which kinda makes levelling it pointless in the first place. ‘Here’s a bunch of abilities you can’t use anymore! Enjoy the grind!’.

Not to mention how frankly poorly thought out most of them are. It’s like they put 90% of their effort into Oracle and Chemist then said ‘screw it’ and threw a bunch of set and forget cooldowns together and called it a skill set. FFV Bard is one of my favourite iterations of the job… and look what they did to my boy . A buff that’s effectively just a stance you press every 70s. Romeo’s Ballad - does it even do anything? Phantom Exp up is nice but 10% of 80 is 8, not the most fruitful gains. Stormblood Ballad-Troubadour on a 120 cool-down with a regen tacked on. If it was like an MP drain skill and you were managing song duration like old ffxiv Bard or something then sure, that could be fun. But just a cool-down? Is it useful? Probably. Does that make it fun? I wouldn’t say so. And another 120s cool-down with Hero’s Rime. Cool but like, why? Why did we need more raid buff cooldowns? This is like the one place they can experiment with interesting skill sets and it’s just the same stuff as everything else? Boo, hiss!

I haven’t played the other ones yet because I’m still only level 4 on Bard. What’s up with Time Mage though? It promises a good time, but the only actual spells it gets are Slowga and Dispel. Do they even work on bosses? Everything else is a cool-down.

Also the map is super small and everything does really quickly. And what’s up with knowledge level? Am I nerfing a party if I join at level 6 when everyone else is level 20?

At this point they should’ve called it ‘Occult Cooldowns’. My rant is over but the duress this has caused me is eternal, how could you YoshiP?!
