its not like they just drop here and there.... the market is flooded with these items xD. its ridiculous

without fun jobs none of the content is fun
The chest system is completely messed up on every level
Bozja basically has no incentive left in it, getting to DRN to progress the relics is about the only thing left because all its money sources are either the rare items or lost action fragments farming to sell to people looking for the rare items
Eureka only has the pagos items left as everything else is now on the OC drop table and the pagos items aren’t even particularly good, they just have prestige because they are rare.
Then there’s the fact that silver is the best chest over useless gold and it’s static
If they flipped around gold and silver I wouldn’t mind the chest design in a vacuum, except the fact that it vomits out all the old rare rewards. Even forked tower’s 100 clear reward is easy pickings, forked tower is going to be entirely held up by sanguinite farming for +2 gear but +2 gear in OC is much weaker than previous gear besides in a few specific situations especially compared to the stacking phantom job mastery bonus so it remains to be seen if that works as an incentive
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
This might sound silly, but I wonder if when they were deciding the loot tables they said something like “2% for treasure map glamour, 1% for mount, 5% for coin, 10% materia, rest ribbon prism” and whoever implemented it did 2% per map glamour instead of 2% to reference a table.
Disregarding the strangeness of using prior field expedition items in the wrong place, if it was intentional surely it was brought up that it would needlessly make the new exploration zone feel already familiar?
It's funny to see Eurekan Petrel, pagos gear and even Crystarium furniture as the loot drops, they don't even try to theme the chest rewards to make sense, but rather just cram all kinds of random items into it.
To be honest with you, this is the boat I have been pondering for the past week.. As it stands, I don't think I'd commit to a free trial, friends, convenience and all... But I think if they were to unsub, then the only thing I will commit to is a free trial, because most of the content I am interacting with is old content anyway.I have legit wondered if I would be better off making a new Free Trial account and just never playing a character past Heavensward so I can enjoy my "peak" of the parts of the game I enjoyed without having to worry about a subscription, house, or storage.
Hell, it's not like I have friends or any FC mates here, so I could re-roll anywhere else but Dynamis and probably have a grand old time compared to the experience I'm having as a subscriber on Maduin post-Stormblood.
Like it's really weird to think that the content I am doing, and the content I love the most is literally the same content that Free Trial players have access to.
I've got a hundred plus Eureka chests I'm afraid to open because of inventory space (and I know none of the gear has value, pagos gear on the MB recently had it's value plummet on my world, from too many being put up for sale)
There's the morbol minion in a pink dress and maybe or or two other rare things, but those aside.
I think mogtome are an exception purely from the grace of being limited time events. It also works out in the dev's favor because they can potentially feature X item repeatedly over multiple mogtome events as you know not everybody would be available to trade for that item without going into the OG content. Meanwhile OC is literally there, littered with "Hey look! Over here! Conditional Virtue!! 80% more chance to attain one than going thru BA or GC chest! Available anytime!"-signboards.I mean, I've bought most of the items from old zones on the MP at full price before DT? I figured people would be more into getting non-tradeable items since the only way to stop something from being 100% devalued would be like the untradable EW minions, which I still don't have even after the drop rate boost.
If anyone were into X item, it's easier to sell other items to make enough gil to buy the item directly over the general RNG, unless it's not allowed. Also, if most players wait long enough, it'll be recycled into Moogle Tome events, so stuff like wolves, gwibers, and even old Fate stuff will show up there.
I do agree it's rough if anyone made considerable gil from the old zones, but there are different ways to make money as we get new content over time.
Getting untradeables definitely falls into 'reasons to do XYZ'. The problem is they are not sustainable, just like relic weapons. All the examples I've given earlier are all tradeables, which sets up a potential for people to keep coming back should they want to make more gil - by selling those tradeables. I don't think wise to take away more reason(s) to do XYZ, cause that's one of the way to reduce the content longevity. Or in this case, having OC cannibalize its predecessors' longevity.

I don't think it was for familiarity, I think it was that they didn't have any confidence the content could stand on its own and pull the numbers they were targeting. This might sound silly, but I wonder if when they were deciding the loot tables they said something like “2% for treasure map glamour, 1% for mount, 5% for coin, 10% materia, rest ribbon prism” and whoever implemented it did 2% per map glamour instead of 2% to reference a table.

Sure, it's not quite as egregious as Occult Crescent, but it absolutely invalidates old content.
Take the Alte Roite mount from O4S for example that they gave away for free back in Endwalker.
Even if that was a limited time event, that means a whole lot of players who got the mount from the event will never touch O4S, not even unsynced. Which is a shame because it is still a great fight, worth experiencing for the phase transition alone imo.
If so it's their own fault for using blind participation as the metric for success - sastasha must be the dungeon at the centre of an all characters venn diagram, yet noone believes for a second that all dungeons should be made in its image.
