Preach! This is exactly how I feel. Taking the time to explore or do anything that isn't rushing has that voice in the back of my head going "You could be getting job mastery and more silver right now."
It's an issue, but again, if SE doesn't do that, people will complain like they did about Pagos tbh. Personally I'd say just do it like Pagos and ignore all the people asking it to be dumbed down, but they want it to work for people who only play 2 hours a week so it is what it is.
Pagos is old news though, they fixed this problem with Bozja. There is a middle ground between pagos and OC and it’s literally Bozja
Why do they never learn from their own game design
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
If you think of CEs, yes, Bozja has time between them. But in terms of FATEs, it was exactly the same. There was no time and it felt like you were missing out by not doing them. You had to train yourself to resist caring about FATEs in order to do anything else.
The thing was Bozja had multiple fates running at the same time which made them scale better and last longer
Bozja allowed you to stop even if you missed a fate because it was often a fate you didn’t want. OC doesn’t

Honestly, a lot of the "fun" bits could be fixed by taking a page from some FFs and letting us mix/match abilities we've unlocked from the new jobs.
Like, I don't care about having all 6 or whatever cannon balls, but if I could take 3 and some kinda regen/heal?
Or, if they were playing with mechanics and trying things out, why WASN'T this the place to add reraise in some form?
yeah we really need some kind of phantom job cross skill system.
without fun jobs none of the content is fun
IDK, all I wanted right now is some sort of common sustaining potion. It's awful to do solo stuff with any DPSer, that is not a RDM with Vercure, if you don't have either Ph. Chemist or Ph. Knight equipped... I wouldn't really mind using a Ph. Job covering that kind of weakness, because in Bozja we had to do that with Lost Actions, however if I'm using either of those 2 jobs as a DPSer, means that I'm not leveling the rest of them.Honestly, a lot of the "fun" bits could be fixed by taking a page from some FFs and letting us mix/match abilities we've unlocked from the new jobs.

There are aspects of OC that a like, but most of the stuff I hate is the things they took from Eureka and Bozja that were bad. It feels a lot like they looked at a spread sheet of data from player behaviours and didn't understand players weren't doing them because they liked them, they did them because they had to. I can't reason out how anyone could have decided the Forked Tower access methodology without seeing the stats on Eureka Hydatos and Baldesion Arsenal and coming to the wrong conclusion that people were playing the content because they liked how you access them and the support fate removing AV's buff instead of "elemental armours look awesome so we suffer through the access method and external fate BS". Ultimately to me it comes down to devs who don't play their own game as a hobby, or don't consult with actual players about what they like about the Field Op content, they just look at some stats on a spreadsheet and conclude big number means people like it...
The most amazing part is that there was a post-mortem on Eureka from Yoshida and Nakagawa where Nakagawa acknowledged that BA's entry method sucked. There are aspects of OC that a like, but most of the stuff I hate is the things they took from Eureka and Bozja that were bad.
