Choosing between dull fates and even duller fates isn't two paths though.I've done about a lockout a night over the past 3 nights after raids and I've gotten at least one of 5 types of demiatma and a couple I have 2 of each. That's just from randomly running around doing CEs and such. So it seems the drop rate inside OC might be okay for gradually doing this step over time.
I haven't tried fates outside. If they're low, then that may be something that needs to be adjusted because if they truly want to say there are two paths, the paths should be equal in time expenditure to accomplish the same objective.
I started finding it difficult to get the Atma I needed in the isle when I had two types of Atma left to get, 3 of one type that never dropped and two of another type, seeing people recommend I do the fates in the dawntrail zones, I spent all of today doing fates in the zones corresponding to what I needed and made 2400 bi-color gems and not one atma dropped. Plenty of people in the parties i was in were saying they got them >_< ;_;
I got 8 that I needed on day 1 (plus some duplicates), 8 more (plus some dupes) on day 2, and then on day 3 I played for over 12 hours before getting the last two I needed. I did focus only on the region I needed on the last day. I did ~120 CEs over three days, and lots of FATEs, but only a couple of the atmas came from those. It's frustrating to go a long time without getting a drop, but overall the drop rate seems fine. It's a one time step, just lock in and do it.
Edit: 25% for CEs feels correct to me.

I just spent 7 hours in Kozama'uka and i'm still 0/3 atma. This IS unacceptable. I did some OC over the last few days and in around 15 hours got 2 atma so I went to DT fates. Some areas I got them within 4 hours, some 6 but to get 0 after 7 hours of continuous grind is absolutely ridiculous.
We're not all kids with no jobs that have hours and hours and hours of free time. I want to actually DO stuff on the weekend and not grind for 10+ hours to get a single drop. I understand that I am one of those who have been incredibly unlucky, but honestly it shouldn't be like this. This is actually worse than ARR.
"BUt YoU oNLy NeED tO dO iT oNCe" - SURE, that's great! But in a game where there is already a LOT to do for the average player, spending a literal DAY grinding for something that doesn't even drop once is just not right.
It's this type of 'grind' that causes people to burnout and quit the game or step away for a while. They get the relic weapon and then what? They go and play another game for a while to chill out.
Not to mention, this is not a free-to-play game, we pay a monthly sub and drawing out 'content' with dull asf fate grinding from hours to days is not CONTENT.
"tHEn ThIS cONtEnT MAYbe Isn'T FoR YoU" - get in the bin. Having a 0.05% droprate does NOT mean content is meant for some and not others. I guess working people can't enjoy this content then because they have lives, see how stupid that sounds?
These are the same people who were telling other players to get out of their game when Dawntrail released. Not point in arguing with them sadly.
Reminder that Atma in ARR had a flat 2% drop rate per fate, you had no flying and you had to have a relic equipped for it to drop, so no leveling alts, by comparison, this is extremely generous. I say this as someone who generally has a distaste for RNG grinds, since there's nothing you can really do about it except hope for the best.
Be lucky you only lost one arm. You could have lost both arms and legs, so this is extremely generous.Reminder that Atma in ARR had a flat 2% drop rate per fate, you had no flying and you had to have a relic equipped for it to drop, so no leveling alts, by comparison, this is extremely generous. Is this HW ?Reminder that Atma in ARR had a flat 2% drop rate per fate, you had no flying and you had to have a relic equipped for it to drop, so no leveling alts, by comparison, this is extremely generous. Why are we comparing what is in DT to what was in ARR ?
Why didn't I think of that. Because something else was worse makes this instantly okay!Reminder that Atma in ARR had a flat 2% drop rate per fate, you had no flying and you had to have a relic equipped for it to drop, so no leveling alts, by comparison, this is extremely generous.
