Right, it is in fact faster to just do CEs UNLESS there is one specific demiatma you are lacking

The majority of the atma I was able to get from OC itself. It's really just been this one last atma that has given me trouble, and I have spent almost three times the amount of time trying to get it compared to all the other combined. It's even more frustrating, because the color I need rarely has fates and CEs spawn for its area in the OC, and there does not seem to be a clear way that I have been able to find to encourage fates and CEs to spawn in that area, unlike killing Ink Stains to be able to spawn the quest CE.
Yeah, I just moved outside to farm DT Fates. I know they confirmed it to be 5% but it's better than getting dupes of atmas I already owned, being angry at how the map ended up in OC.The majority of the atma I was able to get from OC itself. im not even trying for relics this time around, this game can't get me to stay entertained to do that grind for something that ends up meaningless except for glamour

Here's my issue with farming demiatma in DT zones, let alone "target farm your last demiatmas in a DT zone:" this crap is like a year old. Unless you have a personal vendetta against being in OC, I'd rather be running the new content, steadily maxing-out phantom jobs and earning silver pieces for somewhat relevant alt-gearing and scoring random stuff in chests while participating in FATEs in there and even CEs (with a reported better drop rate). Heck, if you're chasing FATEs with a semi-active party or even playing solo on tank, you can get full-credit on FATE bosses that die in under half a minute as opposed to potentially spending upwards of 5 minutes on one DT FATE, pending the zone's active players.
You could make an argument that the verdigris demiatma is the most egregious, (I have an FC mate with a story on this one; spending their day-off in Kozamauka with no drops at all), but unless you've already maxed-out your shared FATEs in all zones and can buy the mount vouchers, increasing your reputation in just that one zone is more or less useless, even for crafting mats, as Cosmic Exploitation is a thing now.
I mean, you do you for whichever of the two methods you prefer, but even as someone who completed the DT shared FATEs, I'm so over them that I couldn't imagine going back there and wasting a whole day on one entire zone again.
So a few weeks ago, I did the DT Fate farm, and all of them died fairly fast, even if I had 2-3 others in my party during early morning and mid-day times. Also, I actually dislike fates, so I never do them, so I don't have a shared fate, so I just traded extra bi-colors into lamps, which I discarded later. The main reason I did them was because I knew certain colors were in odd zones that rarely had CE and DT fates would 100% give me the right color, even if it was boring.
FWIW: I feel like you're still going to waste time either way in OC (dupes) vs DT Fates (boring) since there's no way you can make progress in the quest w/o collecting all the atma. For example, nothing is stopping me from returning to OC now that I've almost done all the relics from tome dailies, and I can still make progress on PT jobs.

In the 5 or more hours ive been in OC, ive gotten 5/18 atma, the drop rate is so below acceptable its physically painful, the drop rate is an insult and an immense disrespect to my time
This grind is designed to last to 7.35 at the absolute earliest if we get a patch by patch relic update which is in October and you are unhappy that you are nearly 1/3 of the way there in 5 hours?
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
