I agree with you. Whole concept of just spamming fates in OC is tedious, boring and feels bland. I'd rather have to do a long quest chain or at least ask me to do dungeons, trials and so on. But I guess devs just had the easiest time with copy+paste of content and do fates.

It's about the freedom of it. Technically you could've under the old Endwalker system run only new content and still worked towards it while someone who didn't jive with the new content could do old content and still work towards it. It was a much better system. It was just handled poorly.

Sorry but hard disagree there. It was a non-existent system in EW. And you don't have to run OC technically to even get your relic so there is quite a bit of freedom for how you obtain the Dawntrail relic. I mean, sure, It's not as free as doing Wondrous Tails once and then being done for the next couple months. At that point if you don't want to do Fates/Level Jobs/Shared Fates/Bi-Color Gemstones all at once or you don't want to do OC/Hairstyles/Glamours/Mounts then that's a lot of content to choose to not engage in, which is fine! It is optional and extra content at the end of the day.
