People here in these forums are always melodramatic. I'm seeing lots of relics and it hasn't even been out a week.
People need to calm down. If it was easy and took 10 minutes they would be here complaining about that too.

I started in 2020, so I've never grinded out a relic before that wasn't the Manderville set. That said, these really don't seem that bad at all. After getting about half from OC I just FATE grinded with PF for specific colors and got them all by the end of day 3.
It seems people here really don't like the RNG aspect of it, which I guess I can understand, but it really doesn't seem that bad. Sometimes tedious, yes, but... it's a relic weapon. You don't need to get it by the first week.

The problem is that tying progress to RNG means that some people will get done earlier and some people get done never (regardless of how many times they roll the dice). Statistically it's unlikely, but you could get all of your Demiatma on day one or roll the dice ad nauseam and never finish anyway. I don't know what statistics they're using or their target projections for how long it'll take people to get finished, but assuming the reported approximate 20% / 5% drop rate from CEs / FATEs (respectively) you need 80 CEs and 320 FATEs, on average, to get all 16 Demiatma from either exclusively.I started in 2020, so I've never grinded out a relic before that wasn't the Manderville set. On average. Like I said some people could get super lucky and get them all on their first try, and others can get super unlucky and never finish no matter how long they beat their head against the wall. The people saying "Well I finished it already so the drop rates must be pretty generous / fair." are just the ones who lucked out and / or did not get burned by RNG.

Yeah, this is the problem with RNG grinding. It will take much longer for some than for others, and that doesn't seem fair. It why there should really be some type of weighted RNG or a pity system, so that we can eventually guarantee people will get their drops without having to spend excessive amounts of time compared to others. The problem is that tying progress to RNG means that some people will get done earlier and some people get done never (regardless of how many times they roll the dice). Try the Eureka grind. It's like the OC, but better in many ways. Sure, you had to work to call the fates, but any time you successfully called a fate NM, and it wasn't RNG but a matter of timers, you were always rewarded with the same results. Anemos was chill, a great place to grind out your relic and artifact armor. And that's another sore point for me about the OC. Eureka allowed us to forge our armor alongside our weapons. In the OC, we have to pay for it through a grueling grind for coins.
Admittedly, the rewards for the gold and silver coins are way better, but lockboxes were always plentiful in Eureka. It was common to end up with stacks of them in your inventory, and those tended to make you filthy rich if you ground for a good while, anywhere from 2 million to 7 million depending on RNG. So that's a feather in Eureka's proverbial cap.
Pagos kind of sucked, but it had its own charms. Sure, those stat-boosting items that bosses dropped required a ton of RNG, but everyone managed to get at least one of them. Some got them all.
As for relic progression, in all four areas, the rewards were always consistent. That made the grind bearable. My grinding engine doesn't run on maybe fluffs. Yet I'm still grinding at OC, somehow. sweatdrops '^^

The worst part about the grind is that the incentive structure is totally rigged. What is the incentive to do all the grinding aside from the relics? And you need that incentive to be able to actually do that grind cause the atma drop rates are abysmal. You can not level jobs in there, you can not make gil in there, you can't use any of the gear outside, you can't do forked cause you can not even get into the bloody raid. Literally the only reason to do any of it is a few pieces of glam and a mount which will get you nowhere near the amount of grinding required for a single relic let alone multiple.
It wouldn't feel quite so bad if I don't have 10 of Realgar and Azurite and 0 Malacite... And I can't do anything with the dupes, not even trade them for currency.
I go grind in OC I only ever get dupes I can't do anything with. I grind FATEs for hours and I don't get anything all. It feels broken.
Spending two hours grinding with zero progress feels openly disrespectful to me as a player and the time that I have available to play. Say what you want about Cosmic Exploration, at least I could come away from that feeling like I've progressed *something*.
I will play 'til I cap my OC level and finish the story (which I'll probably have done within a day), but after that I'm done. I'll forget that it exists and drop my sub. May or may not come back for future iterations.
They need to spend more than 5 minutes thinking how they design these things.

I spent 4 days farming for my atmas while my bf (who did the same content as me for the same amount of time) finished in 2. The problem isn't really the drop rate (tho its still not good), the problem is how people finish at massively different times despite starting at the same time. It really sucks to watch all your friends do the same thing as you and just get lucky.
