Get out of this forum and into the game, if you want to find out, this been at something for 30 minutes.. 4 hours... and whatever is nothing... it is not supposed to be a fast pay to win grind in a figure of speech.Let's put that idea to proof.
The odds of getting at least one drop are dependent on how likely you are to get a drop and how many times you roll the dice; P(drop) = 1-((1-p)^n), where p = percentage of getting a drop and n = how many times you've rolled the dice. In other words, better odds of getting a drop are dependent on how quickly you can get n to rise. If you're doing every CE and FATE in South Horn as it comes without concern for what Demiatma can drop yes, it's more efficient because FATEs and CEs spawn at about the same rate as FATEs in the overworld and you'll get to enjoy the higher drop rate from CEs (though they do tend to take longer so... even shake?). The formula for that looks a bit more complex, but basically you just calculate (1-p)^n twice using the different statistics for FATEs and CEs and multiply them before subtracting them from 1. However if you're gunning for a specific color because you're almost done, focusing on overworld FATEs will raise n faster than waiting for the right ones or CEs in South Horn. In half an hour you can do say 20 overworld FATEs (assuming a 5% drop rate, 64% chance of getting a drop) or 10 South Horn FATEs and maybe 2 CEs (respective 5% / 20% drop rate gives you 14%) gunning for a specific color.
I'm just guessing how many FATEs and CEs you can do in that time frame, but the n for a given color will rise faster outside of South Horn for sure so... whether it's faster to grind in South Horn or an overworld map is dependent on whether you're going for any Demiatma drop or a specific color, assuming FATE drop rates are equal in South Horn and that color's dedicated overworld map. (Might not be.)
(Note: P(drop) will never reach 1 a.k.a. 100%, so if you're supremely unlucky you still will not get any Demiatma no matter how many times you roll the dice or how high the drop rate is, assuming the pity system in most modern virtual gacha systems is absent as it seems to be here. Statistics, gotta love 'em.)
EDIT: Spent an hour grinding Yak T'el and Living Memory, got one (green) in 25 FATEs. That's a 4% drop rate, about on par with the reported 5%.
Get off da forum and into da zone!!!!!!

Crazy enough, only needed three FATEs for Demiatma's last drop today. Finally received first weapon from Gerold. This one doesn't light up yet. Desperately miss follow-up quest for second of eight progression stages in this 7.25 expansion. For example, all Phantom jobs could be required for unlocking them. Is this too difficult for Square Enix to revitalise Occult Crescent in this way?

Personally think it's fine, but I enjoy fates. Made like 10mil selling gemstone tickets doing it. Saw a lot of people getting the gemstone vendor unlock achievements.
Two thoughts really:
They should have required 6 from each zone and doubled the drop rate. Same time-investment, just makes the drops a little more consistent to get.
Should be able to buy the follow-up tomestone rocks while gathering them. There was an annoying pressure to get the fate-thing done fast, to keep from wasting/capping on tomestones.
I kow the area is meant to be a grind, but last weekend I did about 50 fates and 20 CE's and got zero drops, and yet others were getting them every other fate!!
This feels like ARR fate relic drop chance all over again
This is really making me feel like its not worth the effort
All it needs is a small amount of bad luck prevention. Every CE you clear without getting an atma should increase the drop rate of them by 5%. And then it resets when you get one or leave that instance.
I liked having to earn my Relic weapon, people were actually interested to see it, and saying "oh? is that the relic weapon?"
It took like 3 days for a few hours. That's how grinds go!
Why don't you go to OC and do the CEs/fates? Even tbe fates there have higher drop rate. Try killing the mobs at verdigris area to spawn the CE.My luck may just be incredibly bad, but I did not touch fates before the relic quest came out. I ground out every FATE needed for Shared FATES in Kozama'uka, and I received ZERO demiatmas from start to finish. That's hours and hours of just fates and waiting for fates to spawn and nothing else. The drop rates genuinely need some sort of pity system, as this kind of drop rate is unfathomably bad.

I collected demis for 2 characters, and my experience was.. that you naturally get maybe 4/6 of all, when getting to level 20, and then it might be speedier, if you spend a few hours in specific zones.
Well after complaining in the ingame chat I got two drops from 5 events - so maybe thats the way to get it to drop - complain![]()
