What is your Atma Drop Rate & Farming Method

I figured why not collate our anecdotal data. You can find Critical Encounter or FATE data for OC in your achievements under Field Operations. Non-OC FATEs have an achievement but that may be hard to decipher from the ones you've done prior to OC.

My CE and FATE tallies are separate. Division shows they are 20% and 5% respectively (edit: SE confirmed CEs are 20% and FATEs are 5%), but linear regression shows they are 25-30% and 10% respectively so far:

FATE Data:
4.85% (18 Atma / 371 FATEs * 100)
6.84% (5 Atma / 73 FATEs * 100)

Mixed Data:
4.37% (7 Atma / (57 CEs + 103 FATEs) * 100)
7.63% (20 Atma / (97 CEs + 165 FATEs) * 100)
8.33% (6 Atma / (32 CEs + 40 FATEs) * 100)
8.62% (22 Atma / (93 CEs + 162 FATEs) * 100)
10% (2 Atma / (10 CEs + 10 FATEs) * 100)
12.98% (20 Atma / (74 CEs + 80 FATEs) * 100)
13.08% (14 Atma / (56 CEs + 51 FATEs) * 100)
13.26% (13 Atma / (48 CEs + 50 FATEs) * 100)
25% (7 Atma / (12 CEs + 16 FATEs) * 100)

You can certainly see that the average for most seems to be 7-13% when both are included. I'm going to keep updating my CE and FATE specific data as I level all my Phantom jobs, but so far it looks rather substantial of a difference.

I started day 1 on the isle and got about 9/18 from engagements there.

After that, I grinded the rest out through Dawntrail fate areas to target the atmas I needed still yesterday (Wednesday) and today (Thursday).

My rates for the atma were as follows:

Malachite Demiatma - Got 1 from the isle and farmed the remaining 2 out in yak'tel in about 2-3hrs or so, not bad, but not great droprate.
Verdigris Demiatma - Farmed all 3 out in kozama'uka in about 4hrs, again not bad, but tedious af
Realgar Demiatma - Thankfully got all those through engagements during day 1 on the isle
Caput Mortuum Demiatma - Also got these through engagements during day 1 on the isle
Azurite Demiatma - Had insanely good RNG and got all 3 in Urqopacha in just 30ish mins
Orpiment Demiatma - Got 2 from the isle and had the absolute WORST time getting the final 1 I needed. It took 4.5 HOURS for it to drop in living memory....

I haven’t counted how many of each type I did and I’m offline now, but mine looks like this:

Day 1 - all in-zone CEs/Fates (8 hours in zone) - zero
Day 2 - same, but more CEs than Fates (about 8 hours again) - 5
Day 3 - about 5 hours in OC, exclusively CEs; took an hour break to try farming Shaaloani fates because I only need one more of that color - 3 from OC CEs only, nothing dropped in Shaaloani

So I have 2 of 3 different kinds, 1 each of two others, and I have yet to see Verdigris. Still need 10 more rocks.

I got 34 (2 malachite, 6 caput, 15 orpiment, 6 realgar and 5 azurite) in about 6 hours over 2 days. Zero vedigris.

Since vedigris fates spawn so rarely I did the 3 vedigris and 1 malachite out in the DT zones to get it finished, those 4 took me about 2 hours

I got 2/6 demiatmas collected fully (Realgar, Orpiment) and others having at least 1 when i made it to Knowledge 20 in Occult Crescent just by doing the usual CE > Fate > Fate loop. The rest of them i just got from fates in DT. RNG may not always be in favor but by the time you hit 20 you'll probably collect more than half of the needed, and getting the rest from fates in DT zones wouldnt (relatively) take long.

Party of 4 people, farming for 5 hours straight in the same area - one person got 5(!), everyone else 0. Can you please fix this and add a flag or something so people get about the same amount? Or drops count for the entire party? Or they are tradable? This is ridiculous.

UPDATE after 8 hours of farming: Person has 9 now. I have 1. Others have 0 and 1.

No real method, tbh.

My idea is to just keep doing CE/FATE because I want to farm silver coins for all gearsets & level phantom jobs to the max while picking up any stray demiatmas along the way. I don’t actually keep track of the time I spent inside, but I’ve got all required demiatmas after maxing out 5 phantom jobs—halfway to max my 6th.

Outside the black chocobo and calamity abound, I really enjoy all the mini alliance raid feel of all CEs, so I don’t mind how repetitive they get.

I think I have done about 10 to 12 CEs, and perhaps as many FATEs in Occult's Crescent. So far I have 2 demiatmas. So far I am knowledge level 10. Right now I am focused on reach KL 20. Then I will try to unlock either the Geomancer or Samurai phantom jobs for gold coins which will have to be farmed in a party from mobs. The demiatmas will just come eventually. I will probably have the relic before the next patch in two months.

I just go in and do stuff, no really, I am not doing anything unique, I just do CEs when they pop, and FATEs in between.

Right now I have:

3x Caput Mortuum
3x Orpiment
5x Malachite
6x Azurite
10x(!!!) Realgar



I currently am level 20, I been level 20 for over a day now, I have 3 maxed Phantom Jobs(Oracle, Cannoneer, and Chemist) with the 4th on the way, I have a complete set of Arcanaut's Scouting and the Riding Map. According to Achievements, I have done 109 CEs, and 138 FATEs.

Verdigris being such a bottleneck is starting to get a little frustrating, but it is what it is, I have a long way to go in OC as is.
