All I see (and that is of course legitimate) "I and a few others want this, so this is right".

So lets just drop this ridiculous pretense of "I have arguments, you do not" and express that what we really want: a wish according to personal taste.

I am not against them unlocking the gear but I am also not sad when they do not do so.

SHE being the operative word here. So for all intents and purposes that would be accurate to the cosplay. Do you see males running around like it in the artwork? Then you'd have an objective argument.

There would be a lot more variety without locks. Saying that variety already exists doesn't change that. I also don't see how asking for unlocks is any different from asking for more glam. I want gear to be unlocked so I have more choices when making outfits. Items that I can't wear may as well not exist in my game because they have no use to me.

They didn't change the other outfits to be more feminine on women, so they shouldn't have changed Lenna's outfit to be more masculine on men. There were three different options of varying masculine & feminine styles to choose from already. The idea "women should dress skimpily and men should dress modestly" is sexist, full stop.

I'm not against sexy glams or Amano's style, but if you make erotic gear and lock it to women, that's an objectification of women, personal taste be damned.

I agree though I do not think it would be any less objectifying going on of they made it sexy for both genders. Both would be equally objectified.
Apart from the fact that not every man finds this style of clothing "sexy" and I do not know of any women that would find the thing in question sexy on men. :'D

You would have an actual point if the other outfits weren't already a 1 to 1 recreation on both sexes.

or if there was any gender variation on any of the other outfits in the occult crescent. From my immediate knowledge, there isn't.

You know different women than I do. But that's what I mean-- gender alone doesn't predict preference. And if the tights are objectifying, then it's rude to give them to women in the first place.

But I don't agree that they are. Clothes on their own don't mistreat or degrade anybody, and it's possible to dress like Lenna, or design clothes like Lenna's, for fun and for expression. But since I believe that, I want everybody to have the equal opportunity to do so.

Aye, it's always context that matters
Women getting stockings and a plate-kini as battle gear? I'd call that objectifying, since it makes 0 sense even in world.
Doesn't matter if males get a plate-kini too.

I loved when the quest criticized Urianger's rather revealing attire in Endwalker? I think it was?

I'm just gonna say this, in all honesty:

I just want to be happy and have the occasional choice of really nice stockings with a garterbelt.

Why do I need to argue for this? Why am I not allowed to be like "Why can't men have the stockings?" and just have everyone say "yeah men should have gotten the stockings."

Like all points are just moot in fact that we have enough plain pants, and you can't really tell me you don't have an ulterior motive for arguing against men having one more pair of stockings (and the only pair with garters) in a whole wide world of fashion?

Sure yeah, it's just opinions, but one side wants to be happy and the other side is just like "you can't be happy because of all these subtextual reasons."

Simple: you want to change the status quo. That usually entails explaining why.
Though technically it isn't us that needs convincing. It's the developers.

Ultimately it doesn't matter much what you or I think.

If they humor you: cool. I expect to see Ketenramm in a thong then!
If not: welcome to the club. There is tons of gear I'd like to wear but can't either. We'll live.

You didnt make any arguments. You just talked about a few assumptions and your feelings.

That person did have some assumptions in there too, but the one that is correct is number 4, and that's really all there needs to be.
As stated, the strongest argument is "Removing the gender-lock from gear would offer many more glam options to players.". It's objectively true.

So far still, every argument against this has still been entirely feelings and/or assumptions, and had nothing to do with the topic.
If you can not prove that removing the gender-lock would not offer new glam options, then you really have nothing to say other than how you feel. That's not to say that you can't say it. But more to just point out, that no actual arguments are being made. You are just making the video game thread your vent diary about your feelings today.
