Please Stop Genderlocking Gear

[SIZE="3"]Why are we still getting genderlocked gear? Why do the Tycoon tights turn into ugly generic pants when I put them on my male character? I love the female version of this bottom piece and it's greatly discouraging that I cannot wear it because I play a male character.

First of all: it would look royally stupid on a male character. I mean it already looks dumb on a female one.
Second: the question we really need to ask is: why does it, yet again, turn into sth. a prostitute would wear on females in order to provide fanservice for horny teenagers?

I'm going to be honest they really opened a can of worms when they started "unlocking" (re-developing) gear for the opposite gender. The extent of the unlock all gear movement really favors male characters as there are some looks that are and will always be forbidden for the females, such as gear with an open chest area, shirtless, etc.

We already have plenty "open chest" outfits that circumvent the issue by simply... giving the ladies a bra, it's a fair compromise, and it is already done for a few pieces, from very old ones like the Uraeus Coat, to more recent ones like most of the Dark Horse sets

Gender locking gear is high-key fine with me, due to male and female figures....and clothes needing to fit said figures, but class/job locking has got to go.........

Let's not try to be like "Oh why did they do this design, it's demeaning." It's literally cosplay, it is what Lenna wears in the Amano art, let's not be stupid. Please.

Both your first and second points were just your feelings. Neither were facts, which makes them invalid arguments and not of much use to read.

The argument being presented here is: Removing the gender-lock from gear would offer many more glam options to many players.
A fact is: Unisex glams can be useful to players.

A fact is not: I dont like this, so dont do this. I think this looks distasteful. I dont think that should be in the game anyway. I think you all already have something just like that and dont need it. I like gender locking and think it should stay.

That last one trips up a lot of people. Its ok to like it, but that isnt a presentable argument against what's being proposed here. It's just not arguing anything at all-its informing people what you like. Telling us what you do or dont like isnt arguing why they shouldnt do it.
So far I havent seen any valid arguments against this. Again, it's all just been feelings.

1. skill issue it'd look great on me if they'd let me use it
2. it's... a cosplay set for an already existing character from a previous game... take issue with the original design if you like, obviously, but we don't need to ask that because it's got an obvious answer. it's not as if they turned the pants on the other new sets into panties on women as well

saying that clothes should stay genderlocked ~because figures~ just betrays a lack of creativity. my melezen looks just fine in "women's" clothing and my femezen would benefit from access to a lot of the male locked designs.

not all clothing even looks good on the gender it's "intended for" 100% of the time. for example, the "cuter" outfits on taller women like elezen, roes, or even viera can look like you just put an adult woman in children's clothing, yet they're not restricted from wearing them. a person's ability to make an outfit look good on their character shouldn't dictate what options they have.

gender unlocking and role unlocking are both things that should happen, the two goals don't need to be pitted against each other.

It's not like they didn't reshape all the genderunlocked glams. Everything is reshaped for the male bodies. This is a silly argument. It's just basically saying "I don't wanna see that."

Which is a feeling, not an argument, as clothing has no gender, and this is DIGITAL PIXEL CLOTHING which does have to be reshaped.

This tbh, but this thread has quite a few aggressive people really that will yell you down the second you dare say something that goes agaisnt what they say, the amount of people in this thread that got called homophobic or bigots for not wanting this is actually crazy, I would just give as advice to ignore them as honestly there's no discussion to be had with them

The extent of the unlock all gear movement really favors male characters as there are some looks that are and will always be forbidden for the females, such as gear with an open chest area, shirtless, etc. Even when nudity isn't an issue they always tend to make the female chestpieces less revealing which also sounds like a double-standard. There is also a cost for implementing crossgender gear which is going to affect quality and efficiency of other new content and must be considered carefully. Quality is greater than quantity.

Gearfitting and design has taken a drop since Shadowbringers. In Endwalker and Dawntrail they went crazy adding crossgender outfits and the quality of work across the board is... debatable. I much rather would have them adding better and more unique sets if they can't handle doing it all.

The Male Tycoon Tights are very lame and uncreative though.

Same as above really, more than valid opinion, I am of the exact same opinion, those tights on male would look absolutely silly and I am more than glad it's not been a thing for males, hopefully it stays like this in the future.

Having the option to pick 2 or even 3 variants on any character wouldn't harm anyone. This is multibillion dollars company. Ask more & better, not less. They've been cutting corner A LOT.

Sure, they can have different versions of it, proper pants (the ones in game are ugly, cant deny) or shorts sound like a good idea to me.
