I'm seeing this issue with the emotes as well? Why are the selfie and twirl emotes different for the genders, that's so stupid.

They really should have a toggle option in settings for masculine/feminine emotes and other animations like running, battle etc. I would love to play Au Ra females but everything they do is so dainty and feminine; I want to play as a bad-ahh bish, not a damsel in distress.
Then play highlander, roegadyn or hrothgar. You can't go out of your way to pick the most obvious, blatant dainty short girl pick and be mad about not looking badass. I like there being notable differences between races and sexes, would it be great if we could mix and match everything, yeah it would be but it's just not realistic and I mean that in a development way. God forgive me for defending SE's development but in any game you will either see tailor made animations for certain characters or very generic widely useable ones. It's very hard and expensive to make it so every skeleton can use every animation, and it's very hard to make it so certain animations look good on certain characters no matter how much tweaking you do. In most games there is either a varied set of looks/animations tailored to each character type or very generic stuff usable by everyone. They really should have a toggle option in settings for masculine/feminine emotes and other animations like running, battle etc. I would love to play Au Ra females but everything they do is so dainty and feminine; I want to play as a bad-ahh bish, not a damsel in distress.
Also let me end this by saying simple things like job idle animations and such should definitely be available to everyone.

Aura are part of a warrior culture.
But even if we push that aside, portraying everyone of a particular race/sex/nationality/whatever as acting exactly the same doesn't make sense because that's not how people work. Any individual can choose to follow their own preferences over those of their surrounding social group. This is also great as a gameplay mechanic in games where you get to create your own character because it doesn't limit you to a narrow set of character types.
For animations it's not very hard. SE apparently has a tool to translate animations between different skeletons, which makes sense because job animations are shared by everyone. Some of the existing race animations, and even clothing, can be used by multiple races already if you get around the in game flag that locks them.I like there being notable differences between races and sexes, would it be great if we could mix and match everything, yeah it would be but it's just not realistic and I mean that in a development way.
This is subjective so I feel like it shouldn't influence the decision to restrict choices that much. Personally I find that some of the tailor made animations look bad already. Being limited to a specific character type doesn't necessarily increase quality. And if a share animation ended up looking bad people could opt out of using it.and it's very hard to make it so certain animations look good on certain characters no matter how much tweaking you do.
I'm more confused about why the Bartz top just deletes tails from existance.
I'd rather have some awkward clipping then having one of my race-defining features stripped away.
I wouldn't "mind" this genderlocking stuff if the variant we dudes got were actually good looking. But the Tycoon tights are a complete design fail and utterly embarrassing. Who wants to wear that? Who wants that in their limited glam dresser? Just some level 1 tights with completely out of place and clunky ornamental nonsense? I just don't see anyone running to buy these.. will any male character using player admit to buying these for their male character? I really want to know!
Hmmm...
A lot of posts were just removed...
The things I do for the glam...
On the subject of "I don't want to see it".
I am a lesbian, I have mentioned as much before when I felt it was relevant, and I feel it is here, but to the point, it means that I have no interest in men's bodies, in fact, I have a rather strong aversion to them, I feel this is important to give context to where I am coming from with what I am going to say next...
It would be completely ridiculous, pathetic even, for me to try to control what other people should have available to them, even in a game, but especially in a MMO that very often relies on personal expression through aesthetics, because it brings me a degree of visual discomfort, I cannot comprehend how self-absorbed someone would need to be to try to act in such manner, I don't like? sure is good that I can just hold right click and spin my damn camera away, isn't it? and if I can't, it's because there is something a lot larger on my screen trying to kill me, and I should probably focus on that instead, it's actually that simple.

I feel like from my perspective (I also lesbian), I don't really like seeing men in 2b tights or in revealing outfits, generally speaking I do have some level of discomfort, but that goes both ways I'm sure a lot of people don't want to also see that sort of outfit on female characters, If I'd have to guess here (and I don't want to stereotype people) a lot of straight dudes also have some level of "well I don't really like looking at that, makes me uncomfortable" which is perfectly valid but we have to realise if it's not "appropriate" for a male to wear then it shouldn't be appropriate for a female to wear. Some people are rules for me and not for thee, but the world doesn't actually revolve around them funnily enough. On the subject of "I don't want to see it".

The reverse is also kind of true I don't really want to always wear skirts, or revealing leggings personally so why should i get more limited glam options because of weird outdated gender stereotypes, why can't we just have gear options that let people customise how they want to look.
Some of mine quoting that other person was removed, dunno why z.z oh well.
