Comparing apples to oranges there, aren't we? Limiting people's freedom of expression because you're a small-minded bigot and saying people should have freedom of expression are in no way the same thing.

What’s the downside for (general) you - other player having more freedom to choose what they want to wear their characters with?

Thank you. To clarify, it was meant for general ‘you’ than for you specifically. Just trying to steer the topic back into its lane.Do you mean me ?
It's not my cup of tea if someone wants to wear a dress or bikini with it's male character, or if someone wants to wear a suit or boxer shorts with it's female character, everyone should wear what they want to wear ~
But that doesn't change the fact that I still don't care whether Square Enix removes the "genderlock" or not.

Imagine being mad at people asking for gear not being genderlocked because they are afraid of strong "male" thighs, when you meet a person like Trachtoum in the MSQ on level 30. Not to mention ARR gear like the Star-spangled subligar you get for doing the postmoogle quests. If people dressing their guys in revealing ways in this games comes as such a shock to a person, that person hasn't been paying attention.
Let people express themselves however the heck they want.
(Personally I am tired of getting panties and stuff shoved into my inventory playing a female character while the guys get to wear the pants that are on the actual thumbnail, so yeah, stop with the genderlocked nonsense, offer us both versions so we have a choice.)

As my title said I'd rather gender locked than gender nuetral. Cause damn after yunweta gear how fending ended up with the best one that was literally designed for female use is beyond me. All this gender nuetral gear shows me how sorely lacking the creativity in this game has gone. SE needs to get they head outta they ass and stick to making fun and immersive experience rather than this pandering to 1% of player base thing they are doing. Weird they are but eh it is what it is.
You open the door theres nothing in sight. You close the door wondering whats in sight. But lets be honest its probably gonna just let you down.

I'll just reuse my own words:
Reasoning is simple: those who want to use other variants can happily do so. Those who had no interest in doing so can carry on as per usual. Choosing to make unisex gears tbh felt more like a way for devs to cut corner in my eyes than anything else, but I don't think that's the thread's main focus. Tangential? Sure.[...]And also please please PLEASE. Let it be known that I do NOT want a unisex gear! I want to have options to wear both variants of gears!! You know what’s better? Make 3 types: M, F, and Unisex. Now you have 3 options to pick!
They won’t do that, but just putting that one out because the devs really love to misinterpret “We want the option to wear both male & female clothing” as “So you want one unisex gear!!”.
I think you guys are overreacting.

The only type of genderlocking they should even consider is very slight model tweaks just to fit different body proportions of female and male characters.
Like compare the shisui konohama of aiming/scouting/healing to the 2B leggings on males. Both are going for the “speedo” look but one is built for male body’s and one is built for female bodies that males can wear
If they directly ported the current female model of the gear onto males it would have the same weird body proportions as 2B on males. But that doesn’t mean you give males ugly ARR levelling pants instead, it means you slightly alter the proportions of the male speedo portion to make it look it good on males
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
probably too much cost for a dev team with apparently so little manpower.
