Cosmic exploration convinced me to take my EVE Online accounts out of mothballs. I can't imagine renewing my subscription to FF14.
My subscription will end on the 17th.I farmed relics in Cosmic Exploration in literally 3 days and had waited for OC (just to vary from the slow party finder for savages), but it turned out to be the same thing for the umpteenth time. Fates, fates, fates. Thank you but my patience is over. I would say a long break is sometimes due.
i m also thinking of unsubbing, i have literally nothing to do at this point except maybe clear ucob and tea which aint filling in eu pf will take ages to even find a like-minded group, and the recent occult crescent content i already got +1 gear and all phantom jobs maxed, its critical engagements on repeat which gets boring fast, cant even enter forked tower since its unpuggable with randoms and bad systems in place (the way u enter fight, the difficulty etc.), and since no ultimates are coming in the near future this expansion, its not worth my time anymore, i did all that was to be done and i think the game is gonna go downhill from this point onwards, post patches are always the worst and dt already had a bad start
The problem with the game is that leadership has zero vision.
It's been at a creative dead end for a while, and is on autopilot. The sacred formula has been copied and paste so many times now that you don't even need to bother looking at the patch notes to know exactly what's coming.
It never deviates from this, ever. There's nothing new ever tried that shakes things up. There's no risks taken.
It's the same old soup kitchen meal over and over and over and over.
Look at WoW. Remove the story from WoW, strip it down to nothing. What remains? A game. With gameplay and systems designed to encourage you to play and keep you busy that are constantly changing and evolving. New zones popping up with every patch, new power systems, daily quests, dungeons and dungeon systems.
Look at XIV. Whats left? Not much. 3-5 quests per major patch. Maybe a new trial. One or two new bosses maybe.
One of these is a game. The other is.. I don't even know what to call it. It's certainly not a live service game. It feels like the amount of content you'd expect from some free to play gatcha game.
And the formula.. It's no longer working. People are fleeing the game as fast as they can. The game itself outside of doing random things with the few friends you have that still play has become boring and tedious. It feels pointless to shout for change. It feels pointless to hope that the next patch, or even the next expansion, gets things back on track.
Plain and simple, this game needs new leadership at the helm.
You can't make a game when you are completely bankrupt creatively to the point where nothing about your 'magic formula' has changed in 4 expansions.
People aren't "burned out" with the game.
People are bored out of their minds.
How can they not be?
That's the issue. Leadership is the issue.
Either it changes, or this game will stagnate for the next several patches. 8.0 will release and nothing will change. And the playerbase will shrink back to ARR levels.
If we don't see a change in leadership, 8.0 will be another "The Vision" special, where it ends up overhyped and overpromised. Meanwhile it will change nothing about job design, content design, patch cadence, or deviation from the stale formula and meta.
It will be the final gasp that kills the copium of "next expansion will be better!" and shrinks this game back to ARR numbers once and for all.
Change. Leadership.
Period.

Fun fact...the story still bad for some hood for o t hers sja modern writing...... don't think it's gonna get better 8.0 looking really bleak get ready to skip the msq.
You open the door theres nothing in sight. You close the door wondering whats in sight. But lets be honest its probably gonna just let you down.
Sorry to hear that, and I totally understand, I've been struggling too this expansion. I play on EU so I can't offer to play with you but if you'd ever like help with anything be at advice or just to vent or anything feel free to reach out ^-^!I came back because the story got better and I am enjoying the game again. But these dungeons and normal raids are too hard for me. I think I just suck too much to play this game, it's kinda depressing and it's killing my motivation to keep playing. I'm still playing but actively trying to avoid Dawntrail dungeon/raid content.
Be kind, always! ^-^
Its memed to no end, and considered as a troll opinion. But I think its time to change the director.
But I doubt they will until they feel it in their wallet
Sorry but aren't you the one challenged? Where is the Feedback in a question "who else thinks about unsub?" it is a generic question which will generate multiple sides of feedback - with just a few sticking together to share the same feedback. The question itself starts to provoke negative aspects in a spotlight and the answers are showing it. The person you quoted was right in all aspects. YOU know the Product either YOU enjoy it and keep subbed or YOU don't and unsub.
There is no point in throwing such a generic negativ thread (and yes cancelling a sub is negativ) for anyone. Not OP as the decision is still at OPs hand, not any contributer as same rules apply, not even SE who - even if they would consider gathering allllll feedback - could make anything out of it given the fact I stated above that the generic negativ spotlight of cancelling a sub attracts people with way to many different personal negativ points with not even a single one worth considering as the depth of feedback is missing to actual do ANYTHING with it.
Personally, I’m also about to take a break.
I was eagerly waiting for Occult Crescent, but it turns out the content is very superficial and repetitive.
Even though some aspects are fun, like the scattered chests, the loot inside is absolutely not worth it.
— especially since all you end up doing is FATEs that die in 10 seconds, meaning there’s a high chance you miss them, followed immediately by a CE.
So it’s return -> FATE -> return -> FATE -> return -> CE.
But seriously, how is it possible that the content hasn’t evolved at all after a third attempt?
To me, Square Enix is making no effort and is understaffed for FFXIV.
To save time, they give us shallow content padded out with unbearable grinding just to access a raid that no one does, one that requires a minimum of 24 players or it’s a guaranteed wipe
— in an instance capped at 72 players,it’s like a pebble in your shoe.
This content will never keep people busy for months.
I’m sorry to say it, but Eureka had four maps and was much better designed overall.
This is just a glorified Bozja with even less content in the end.
I took break from time to time.
The way they run FFXIV truly could burn you out. A new content comes up if you don’t join the initial hype, it is more difficult to join at later stage. Then put most of my time in those content and feel burn out. Unsub to take break, play other games sitting in my steam library. Come back after few months break to do catchup.
Replace FFXIV with another MMO? So far couldn’t find anything, MMO on the market either have to play it like a job that require you login everyday with no break or very short term
