I'm getting the same error on a Linux/WINE platform.

I was playing the game until 25 minutes before the maintenance started and everything was working perfectly. Now I'm getting this platform error.

I currently have this sinking feeling in my gut and I am hoping to The Goddess that this is just some glitch that is going to only need a quick tweak on SE's part or a setting change in WINE and not something SE has done that is going to lock out everyone on a non Windows platform.

I'm strongly suspecting this has something to do with SE's inclusion of Microsoft's WebView2 in the FFXIV client. MS has a history of making runtime libraries and software that doesn't play nicely with other platforms. I really have to wonder why SE included a HTML rendering engine in the launcher, I mean it is a LAUNCHER for Goddess's sake, not a media portal. It is supposed to check for game client updates, apply them if present and then launcher the game client. That is it. Any more than that and it just adds complexity and we end up with issues like this one.

I've been playing FFXIV for 8 years, the last 4 those using Linux/Proton/WINE. I don't have a Windows system anymore, Windows 7 was the last version I've used and can't afford a new computer without breaking my budget badly.

Apologies for the ranting, it is very late and I was actually getting ready to go to bed before I thought I'd log in quickly to tend my retainers. So mentally I'm a couple eggs short of a dozen. I hope this gets resolved by the time I try to log in tomorrow morning. If not I'm kind of stuck for options since Linux/Wine/Proton is not an officially supported platform.

Same Error. Hopefully this is fixed quickly. Been trying everything I could find online for an hour. nothing works.

Same error on regular Linux. Last patch WebView2 has been a problem, but upgrading to Proton GE 10.3 today WebView2 installed without issues and launcher boots with and without it, in both cases it shows the Platform Error which makes me think there is some User Agent detection going on that explicitly blocks Proton/Wine users.

Also getting this error on steam deck. It's the only thing I have right now that can run FFXIV.

Looks like SE fixed it.

Someoen on steam mentioned that the Launcher version check server was offline. Now its running again and the game starts up normally
