Issues with Graphics and Performance in ARR

Well, all these new screenshots look grand, FFXIVers! I have to say I'm a little bit worried about how my machine will handle the new ARR game.

Currently I play on my Vaio laptop, which runs pretty decent on medium-ish settings. It gets a little hot in Ul'dah, but who dosn't with all that Colosseum gear running around! Harahr, enough jokes.

I'm just worried that with the improved graphics, hardware requirements for running the game will rise. I hate to whine, but I'd hate to be left with a game I purchased and ran fine on my machine, suddenly become unplayable.

I know Yoshi-P has mentioned optimization. I think he even demoed the game on a Vaio. I was just looking for some clarification.

    Thanks in advance, ever-helpful Lodestoners!

I remember him saying somewhere that it's supposed to run on a wider range of hardware than the current one. Let me go dig up the link...

The angels dance like feathers float, they're here to see and to be seen,
The clock strikes two, the music slows and each one slowly dons their wings,
Once outside they all pair off and hand in hand they leave
But I'm still waiting, yeah, and I'm still waiting

I'll try to find some source for this, but: they have stated before that the system requirements for the game will actually be lower in 2.0 if I recall, and will be much more customizable to run on a larger array of PCs in 2.0

My understanding from what Yoshi has stated is that the requirements for running the game will actually be the same or lower, while the possible graphical fidelity will rise. The way this is possible is that they designed an entirely new engine for the game. I would keep an eye out for the benchmarks they will release, but don't worry about it too much.

It's all over the 2.0 documents on the lodestone site. The new engine is going to be a lot more efficient and run a lot better, including being able to work on much weaker computers than those that are required to handle the game currently.
