I really would like a blitzballer. If they can do Pictomancer, I don't think a blitzballer would be too much of a stretch.I know Yoshi-P said "NO BLITZBALL!" but a blitzballer physical ranged class with a suite of DoTs and debuffs would be neat and would have fun and dynamic motions. There's only so many ways you can make shooting a gun or a bow look "active" but a ball that can be thrown, kicked, punched, batted, headbutted, etc. would look interesting.
As for tank, the last tank plundered the FF main character roster for material. Not sure what else could be done from there though.
Right now we have nothing to go on for any serious speculation. Yoshi-P once said that he couldn't imagine an expansion that didn't have 2 new jobs but supposedly this next one will have the gameplay overhaul too so I can imagine the devs would already have their hands full and I wouldn't surprised if we only get physical ranged. After that, everything will be more or less balanced as far as numbers go.
Idol songstress, digital necromancer could function like a mesmer in guild wars. Ranged phys is hard to do because it's just about shooting an object at distance and those jobs we have already.gambler monster is probably the only viable one at this point mechanics wise
I mean do I need to say anything. Rng is over due for a makeover and the tanks need a stand out mech since others are gone.
Free the Glam!, Duel Pistols (Gunner)?
Maybe we could get another Garlean themed job, though this time in the form of Tank? Gaius' unique garlean gunblade style would be awesome to see. Either that or Rhitahtyn's dual gunshield style would be cool!
As for Phys Range DPS, my money's on Blitzballer with the job focused on the Blitzball, rather than it being an offhand weapon like how Tidus uses it in FFX. Like, I'd wanna see a combination of Wakka, Titus and Jecht (without sword play) used as inspiration for Blitzballer. There was someone on the forums who posted their idea for what Blitzballer could be like in game and I really like it!
For an alternative Phys Range DPS possibly... I'd very much like to believe we'd get a pure gunner job class, if Blitzballer isn't going to be it. We got Viper sort of as a result of fans wanting a pure dual sword wielding job for the longest time along with wanting a rogue-like job without all the Ninjutsu stuff attached to it like Ninja. So maybe we'll get a two handed rifle/musket wielding job class that acts more like a powerful damage focused sabatour type in the place of Machinst and whatever the devs are trying to do with that. xD
Never forget your one true friend.
I'd hope for something unique with a unique playstyle to it. Not something that just screams "who asked" like Viper and Pictomancer.
(To be fair the lore and possibilities for picto are amazing, too bad it was only the job quest and not Krile going into it heavily.)
Like someone earlier in the thread said, something that is actually connected to the story and msq maybe would be nice, not just "Oh this is a new suit for a Scion" Maybe we get to actually visit the base of operations for this next job, or where they are trained or something like that. Runefencer?
I hope the next phys ranged is a take on corsair that uses guns, and a cutlass. And I hope the next tank is a magitek tank that uses a hammer.
A gambler would be fun but I don't know what they'd use since it'd be too similar to astrologian
pure rng job

Introducing only one new job (p. range) and focusing on the already existing jobs would be the way to go in order to have both new and old.I'm probably alone with this opinion but I would rather see no new Jobs. The Devs fail to make our current jobs interesting and balanced, constantly smoothing it down ti make encounter design and hightire raiding as easy on them as possible.
So why wast time and effort on new Jobs who will end the same way.
As to what kind of physical range... I'd settle for a crossbow user with either one in each hand or a big one held with both (the latter would be my preference) but I think they'll go for something less standard.
This is actually a pretty popular opinion one that I fully agree with. I doubt they will stop adding jobs as it's a flashy selling point to FF14. I see no point in adding new jobs when they don't actually offer anything new to the table. I rather they actually make the jobs fun.I'm probably alone with this opinion but I would rather see no new Jobs. The Devs fail to make our current jobs interesting and balanced, constantly smoothing it down ti make encounter design and hightire raiding as easy on them as possible.

Oh well I guess look forward to a new tank and phys ranged that play pretty much the same as anything else.
