Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

We apologize for any inconvenience you are experiencing. Thank you for providing the previous. May you please confirm and provide further information regarding the issue:

Could you provide the exact error message received in full?

Are you running any addition programs alongside Final Fantasy XIV?

Does this crash occur on more than one character?

When the crash/freeze happens, is the PC over heating at all?

Were any update or changes recently made to the PC at the time of the crash?

Does this crash occur if the game is run in full screen mode? Does it happen in borderless or windowed mode?

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

After searching the internet for the problem I've found that the problem is with a boot file called: steam_api64.dll. I can start the launcher up, type my password in, but BEFORE I press play. I go to this file and rename steam_api64.dll with -bak in the name making it steam_api64-bak.dll then hit play and the game plays fine. only thing wrong is I have to undo the changes afterwards otherwise the launcher will not load. can you help with this problem?
