The sole skill issue check in either Eureka and Bozja is BA(and also DRS but DRS doesn't have any story connection), and even then BA will boil down to "follow basic callouts on Discord", so long as you don't die you will clear, since most decently packed runs aren't don't ever get close to hitting the various enrages.
It really depends if the instance is populated or not. When the content is new and it's booming, nah it really doesn't matter. But when you go back to an older zone later in the expansion (specially in the morning), that shit is dead.

A lot of skirmishes or CE's are actually deadly (not to savage raiders, but to more casual players). Red chocobo says hi.

I'm guessing it'll be quite fun internal leveling content, then further progress will be gated by a controversial, poorly-tuned dungeon.

I honestly expect to not like it. I hope I'm wrong, but so far exploratory zones are 0 and 2 for me.

Eureka was better, but the over-reliance on others killed it later. And if you have to DC travel to do a piece of old content it's dead and that's coming from someone with the Ozma mount.

I just can't shake the fact that this isn't going to be Bozja 2.0 with all the issues intact.

I want to like it as there is nothing to do currently in the game, but I know in my heart it will not be my cup of tea.

I am looking forward to it, I greatly enjoyed Eureka and from everything I've seen they

    - Fixed or at least improved exp gain when playing with friends
    - Added a alternative combat option (Critical engagements)
    - Re-packaged logos actions into bundles making it easier (and cheaper) to use in the form of Support Jobs
    - Removed the magia system

If anyone disliked eureka for any reasons other than those then they'll probably not like Occult Crescent

I think there is a clear difference in how eureka is run now, and how it was at release.

How it is now, is essentially people going in most of the time solo, sometimes interacting with someone else in there also doing the same thing when it's about killing NMs, that's about it. But the fact that you have to figure out everything on your own (or go look for guides on your own), set up your magia properly, and do the minimum amount of effort to coast by the content because while elemental level has been buffed through the roof and mount is available from the start, you're still in a lethal area with mobs that can kill you. This is essentially allowing people to go solo, but they still have to pull most of the lifting beyond this. You need to know what to do, there is nobody around making parties or shouting directions that you can hitchhike on and get going. You're on your own.

In contrast when eureka was current, going solo was suicide (duelling a mob of same elvl had a 50/50 chance of you dying especially as a dps), no mount until max elvl, a lot harder to spawn NMs so you also needed many people working on them. But on the other hand, instances were full (144 players iirc?), and all you had to do was to follow the train. Or find a group doing their own thing in their corner of the map appropriate to their level. Sure you could die very hard on the way to join them because shit was ten times more lethal than now, but people would just come and raise you, no biggie. There was a shout from someone needing a raise every 5minute in there. Past that point, all you had to do was farm mobs and grind mindlessly. There was actually little gameplay over what baseline fates are, it's just the environment that was more lethal, but otherwise the strength in numbers just made everything irrelevant. People shouted a NM was up like you'd shout for a hunt mark, and 140 players would flock all the way to kill it, even if they died against it because they were underleveled.
