I think SE may have made to too Grindy to get done before OC. I'm pretty casual, but even I will be checking out OC when it drops.
Energization station & Hydrofication station are two sequential FATEs, similar to how you had two FATEs for the tunnel excavation. You'll jump from rank 12 to rank 14 after completing them.
With 100 players you'd probably be reaching 20-25% progress on the first one, depending on how many people keep going for the full 40min. That's where Gilgamesh and Balmung were hovering the other day when we got bad timing on the attempts.
You'll want to bring more than ~250 people, and I think that estimate might still be too generous unless they're all giving it their best.
Whatever they did to the requirements for completing these, they better fix it for the next planet :')

Oh yeah, I will go to the area for the fate still. I just know that literally everyone will be in OC.

I'm pretty sure thats gonna happen. My server has like 20-30 people that do this content (all instances in total)and yet we keep steadily progressing and already reached rank 12 or 13 out of 17, after 5 or 6 weeks after its implementation. We also keep failing the fates, but who cares, they succeed anyway after 1 day. Every server will max out the 1st planet before the next one releases

Today we were on the 3rd attempt for the "Energization Station & Hydrofication Station Preparations" FATE. I think we had about 400 people in the instances this time and the FATE was done in about 15 minutes. But the follow up FATE took us about 30 minutes with as many people in the instances. Either the follow up FATE is more "difficult" or the first FATE was scaled down because it was the 3rd attempt, and the follow up FATE was scaled back to normal.

That was what broke our neck the other day as well... it sucks, there should be SOME checks in the background and scaling...

It's a bizzare thing, because the game *wants* you to be ground support since you get the credit bonus, and the mech you just get a Big Bang ticket (or the rare mount drop) which... At this point is just for the 1000 spins achievement and nothing else.
The thing is, for being a pilot, you are given a chunk of cosmocredits (250, I think?) right away upon op success, something you can actually guarantee as a pilot. With being a ground support, you are given far less at first and have to earn the rest of your "reward" over the course of the next 20 missions you do (hopefully you remember to actually complete those missions, and are not doing anything like mission cycling or attempting any of the harder A rank ones where failure is something that might happen). The only saving grace here is that as long as you contribute anything you seem to always get the bonus afterward, even if the op fails.

The ground support "bonus" is not substantial enough to be worth going for, basically. You might as well pilot and get your cosmocredits right away. Spending lunar credits to be a pilot isn't an issue, because the ONLY thing the lunar credits are used for is wheel spins anyway, and by being a pilot you are basically exchanging your lunar credits for better wheel spins (at the exact same cost) and the ability to actually contribute to the op.

Aside from the achievement of winning 50 ops as a ground support, there's basically no reason to not be a pilot.
