Why give us armors that are worthless and can't craft anything 3star

Because this games crafting only allows pentamelded armor to craft anything 3star or bust, what a waste of my time getting all the OJ script armors, max level materia, rroneek stead HQs all this prep and barely craft anything, what a good waste of time.

Uhhh. You "are" able to craft 3star items with a mix of Orange Script iLv720 Innovator's gear and iLv690 HQ Black Star accessories, using minimal overmelding (only the 1st Overmeld slot on the Accessories for the Grade XII). You just aren't able to do it as comfortably as you could with fully pentamelded gear, that's all.

Here for example what I cooked up in like 10min:

Innovator's: Tools + Left side
Black Star: Right side (accessories)
Food: HQ Ceviche (+96 CP, +150 Craftsmanship)
Drink: HQ Cunning Craftsman's Tisane (+27 CP)

Melds:
Primary Tool: Grade XII Control
Secondary Tool: Grade XII Control

Head: Grade XII Craftsmanship + Grade XII Control
Body: Grade XII Control x 2
Arms: Grade XII Control x 2
Legs: Grade XII Control + Grade XII CP
Feet: Grade XII Control + Grade XII CP

Ears: Grade XII Control + Grade XII CP*
Neck: Grade XII Control + Grade XII CP*
Wrist: Grade XII Control + Grade XII CP*
Ring 1: Grade XII Craftsmanship x 2*
Ring 2: Grade XII Craftsmanship x 2*

* = Advanced Melding / Overmelding required

This will give you 5393 Craftsmanship, 4797 Control and 712 CP, while also giving you room to meld some extra stats in your Accessories (these will stay relevant until 7.3 crafted / 7.4 Orange Scrip gear with new accessories comes out). Your statline is high enough to start making 3star equipment that way.

Of course, you can also build around HQ Rroneek Steak, but that cuts 4 CP out and you will have to move a bunch of Control melds into Craftsmanship melds. You can remedy this neatly by melding 2 x +7 CP Materia in a Ring each. Your choice.

I cannot vouch how well or how easily you will be able to craft 3star items regarding 100% quality (certainly risky with unattended macro crafting), but you can try at least. In the meantime you can slowly upgrade your tools and equipment through various means.


BONUS TIP: The stat requirement for 3star combat gear is 99.9% going to be the same one for the next series of Disciple of Hand/Land gear you can craft in 7.3, if past expansions' pattern is anything to go by. So if you can make this, you can upgrade in 7.3.
