My conspiracy theory is that S9 was designed to allow mounts, then they decided against it before launch. Its design literally makes much more sense if you look at it that way.Not sure of the overall area, but S9 feels larger than Rhalgr’s or Idyllshire, and those have the ability to ride mounts. S9 has more aetherytes, but I definitely notice the increased distance from an aetheryte to the quest locations, even after they added Jog. It feels like it takes forever to get to Mosaic, for example.
Yeah, the existence of those cities is pretty much why none of the arguments brought up have managed to convince me. Solution Nine is a tome hub like them, and unlike Eulmore it doesn't have tight hallways. Idyllshire often feels more lively than S9 because of it having content people return to it for (and not having such a huge map with wide-open street-like paths), and I haven't personally seen people Behemoth-troll people trying to interact with Khloe or whatever. I'm sure it happens, but harassment without mounts also happens all the time. Are we gonna ban Roegadyn next for being big?It was never that bad at Idyllshire or Rhalgr's Reach when those were the main tomestone cities. You still see people at Idyllshire as well. They also have the capability to dismount you when you reach a certain section of the city such as the merchant area, because they do it in Labyrinthos when you enter the top secret area. It was really just nice to be able to mount for social reasons - everyone lining up different color extreme mounts for example.
Because it's a part of Yoshi-P's plan and he does not flex away from his scheduled plan. Every patch and every expansion will have 1.1 this, 1.2 this and no more. All capitals will be walk / run only and only one of those will have a marketboard.
Does it deliver results in time, sure? Is it extremely uncreative and boring and uninnovative, yes.
But his job is CLEARLY if nobody has realized by now, not to make gamers happy or innovate like old Final Fantasies used to do. He is going through a clipboard with checkmarks for trends and schedules, his main job CLEARLY now is just to appease the board he is apart of and the investors.
If that sounds jaded and hostile, it's because it is. This company has given me ZERO signs of them speeding up any innovation, heck, the patch cycles have just gotten longer. And their main series? Octopath 2 was the real FF follower, not 16. It was all down from 12 and even 12 is kind of flimsy at best. They need competition to quickly put them in their place. People are way too cozy with mediocrity and the way this game has ruined its old world with ignoring the lore and worldbuilding by just YES, YOSHI P's CLIPBOARD OF: "Oh cyberpunk is popular, oh resident evil is popular, oh old final fantasy references shoved down your throat, oh we love GUNDAM, how do we ram it in the game that has nothing to do with Gundams, oh people love space and star trek, oh people love wild western and red dead redemption. SOUND FAMILIAR?
This is not a "Final Fantasy themepark" it's a "Slot in that we think the players like and think are popular without caring about what the world this story is supposed to exist in."
The dialogue is attrociously written and juvenile in Dawntrail. Endwalker was a rushed mashed expansion of a mess with high highs, Dawntrail is just a downtrend all the way.
SE, BE BETTER and EVOLVE or maybe the reality is that their team just doesn't have the talent to build worlds that make sense anymore and this is just a giant shopping mall where they can insert anything that Yoshi P deems is popular and hip nowadays.

This just isn't accurate.
That's the point you latch onto? Dear God.https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/w...algr%27s_Reach

This is a bit of a selective memory. I have absolutely seen people do huge mount piles at those locations and not even when they were current. People love their mount horde moments and I do too during S rank kills or other activities out in the world, but they have no place in cities IMO.
Being obnoxious in between vendors is still being obnoxious. I do not want to be blinded by the bird supernova or see a thousand screeching and stomping giant white elephants every time I'm running around a city. I enjoy the immersion of walking around a city without a dozen colossal parade float cactuars hopping around with looney tunes footstep sound effects. If you disagree that's totally fine, it's a matter of personal preference, but on the off chance the devs are reading this I'm voicing my view on the subject.
You are free to do that in the other 90% of zones in the game.
There are plenty of opportunities to show off your mounts, you just have to get out there and play the game.

*spams tomahawk* i'm so engaged
Personally, the reason I don't want mounts in city's has nothing to do with the size of the mounts but the mount emotes. So many mounts nowadays have an emote that has a large noise and animation linked to it.
A perfect example lately is the cosmic exploration robots at hunts. They just spam the "firework" thing in a massive group.
So if they could turn off all mount emotes in city's, I guess I would be fine with it then.
You're asking to be able to sit on your mount AFK in a city to show it off but a hunt train isn't a viable alternative because it's not engaging enough? Huh?
Also you're being disingenuous. I'm sure you're intelligent enough to understand that just because I didn't post a screenshot of literally every situation in the game where you can mount around many other players doesn't mean that one screenshot is the only option.
