Please make shout chat abuse punishable

To be fair I went to Aether to play with a friend and she's since moved to Costa Rica. I moved to Primal to play with an old FC mate who has since quit the game and then to Crystal for the same reasons. I normally bounce back to Dynamis for the free transfer and I honestly like the community aspect of it more, but it's not ideal. Every FC you join is a crapshoot that is probably worse because of DC travel and not needing to be on Dynamis coupled with all of the single-player aspects that have shifted player behavior. Why would I join an FC for anything other than the buffs when I have trusts?

I'm not saying I'm the victim here. All I'm saying is something shifted in player behavior and attitude and it sucks. I can't seem to find a decent FC and if I move to let's say Aether if it opens up. What's to say that the very same aspect doesn't crop up again? Before you could help people clear content and make friends. Now I can't. Nobody is ever on and if they are they're doing their own thing and ignoring the FC.

How the hell do you thrive in that? Brave new world and all that junk, but I have been trying. It's not that easy.

I was honest with everyone. That's been my experience in the last few years I have been playing. And it's only gotten worse. The FC I am in now is only good for movie nights and that's a sad commentary, to say the least. I just want someone anyone who wants to play the game. Do the new raids with. Give me a reason to not just uninstall and quit.

It just feels dismissive to write it off like I'm this psycho when it's just a completely different game. I blocked that one jackass, but they were right about it becoming an afk lobby simulator.

I can understand your frustration. I wasn't attacking you, just trying to make you aware of how all this comes across. If that's how you conduct yourself in an FC it's no surprise they haven't been working out.

I can't say I agree with the claim that the game is an AFK lobby simulator. I guarantee I can go to any populated area on my server right now and start chatting with randos and making friends. However, I do agree that it can definitely be difficult finding the right FC. A lot of them just want to collect as many warm bodies as possible and the leadership isn't really interested in doing much of anything to make it a fun place for the members. Have you tried using the community finder to vet FCs before you join them? It's actually a very useful resource and may help you find a better fit before going through the same ordeal again.

It's fine, major cities (irl) are noisy and full of ads, always have been. I'd rather have the noise with activity than dead silence of apathy. Be careful what you wish for.

If we lived in some Syndicate Wars style dystopia with a 'utopia' chip in our minds. Or had some VR contact lenses, and whilst walking around a city saw adverts pop up in our field of vision every few minutes, it would be rather annoying!

I'm less annoyed about the adverts though. The most egregious thing was the RMT bots literally every 30 seconds trying to flaunt some rip off website, SE doesn't care about bot activities very much otherwise they'd surely have banned the terms (website etc they promote) from the chat globally. I had to use the term filter for that and make one or two terms to be blocked.

That's inaccurate. People like to deflect with that, but it's not remotely true. Go into a PVP game while losing by a 90% margin and you will see some vile shit get spewed. If people are afraid of getting reported those people are idiots. I've pretty much been unfiltered for almost 12 years and I have never been reported for language.

I think it's just more console players and just player contempt. Even when you join FCs it's a crap shoot if you even fit in let alone get treated like a human being. Groups mostly consist of the bare minimum and dead FCs. It's just such a terrible experience that I can't fathom how people have such positive ones. They must have the lowest bar for what friendly is.

I've been on Aether and Primal and Crystal it makes no damn difference. Not a single person I have played with or joined their FC or Discord in the past year has wanted to play this game at all. It has been such a negative experience I'm still shocked I haven't unsubscribed and walked away permanently and no this isn't a Dawntrail is bad post. This was like this before Dawntrail. It's just a steady decline and I'm tired of it.

This post proves other wise, screaming that people should be punished for using shout chat for social roleplay/venu's and getting upset people are using the chat because they don't want to see it when that is a personal proplem

I never said they should be banned. I said it was annoying. Gave what I used to block phrases and said that I blacklist the shout chat person if they somehow get past my filters. I don't care what other people want to do for fun.

We went down this path with me saying chat felt so useless to me that I was willing to turn it off. My social woes aren't attached to shout chat spam.

Go back and reread it before you attribute me to some fascist person controlling everyone. Now that says more about you than me.

For folks who don't seem to be having fun in FFXIV, I'd suggest taking a break like I get it I have a solo FC for a reason but the majority of time I do like doing dailies, working on Ex3 now, and that I don't find most ppl apart from LL to be a AFK sim. I know it's hard if you have a house but just trying a bunch of FC each time over and over is tiring esp if you dislike them.

If you feel like FFXIV isn't bringing you joy, I'd just stop trying to force it to work out.

I'm amused by the people responding that not wanting their chat logs spammed with asinine "club' adverts are the unreasonable ones, supposedly "not having fun" in the game.

You know damn well that this annoying practice is an issue, not people rightfully calling that crap out.

The term filter needs work. Two letter phrases need to be coded in, so I can sweep the majority of the trash into the bin by blocking "dj".
(Then again, I'm well aware that being annoying is part of the draw. That's why these reptiles will use different styles and emoji characters to specifically bypass filters, to annoy people who already use the filter.)
