For me personally it's less about the how easy or difficult it is to get into, and more just the 'How interested am I really in doing this?' type deal... Not everyone is interested in raiding, and back when I did have interest, it was almost pretty quickly turned into a miserable experience when quite a few encounters in this game have absolutely atrocious accessibility... Between the godawful use of colors, and electing to try and flashbang the player.

For a lot of things in this game it's just all so half-baked, that for people who do variety gaming, you will almost get a better experience in other games, than what you will out of one that has almost completely eroded itself.

Thanks for being helpful, but it's the overall style of mechanics. I know how to work with guides, I could prepare myself for every single boss fight by memorizing a long list of boss emotes ("boss raises sword = stand close", "boss glows green = turn around", "boss shouts oooomph -> start jumping", "boss farts aloud -> use duty action 1/gasmask" and so on) - but I just don't want to do that.

I mean, look at this Jeuno guide. The last boss alone has around 30 different mechanics to memorize. 30! Is this a game, or a school exam on Latin vocabulary?

Oh, and I simply cannot deal with this mechanics where they show 5 circle AEs, then 11 rectangle AEs, then 17 laser beams criss crossing the room... then hide them all, and I have to follow the pattern from memory. I hate this sort of BS, just show me what to dodge!

And the whiteouts they so love to use lately. I still remember the Zeromus fight. I spent half the fight with me eyes closed, and the other half dead on the floor (guess why).

And so on. I really like this game, but Trial and Raids mechanics are a horrible mess to me.

I’ve played guild wars2 , Lord of the rings online, and Tera before it went defunct. In guild wars 2, people hardly pug raids, and you have to have decent gear and the Meta builds to even get considered to join a group. Lord of the rings online is a really old game and nobody is pugging tier 2+ raids (where the good gear drops.)

Tera struggled from not having much content to begin with, but let’s say you want to tank in Tera. To even be considered a viable tank and hold Aggro you had to enchant your weapon to +12 with RNG. A lot of these Asian games love the gacha rng to upgrade. So, you would waste these materials on RNG hoping to enchant your tank weapon to the next level just so you could hold Aggro.

In FF 14 the minimum is just adding materia and getting crafted gear to enter a raid with literally anyone. Yeah you may get a clear, or you may not, but at least you can enter and be on the relatively same playing field as anyone else.
The only hard part about raiding in gw2 Is to be willing to join discord. People are eager to help you get gear and correct you build. And getting exotic gear Is considered as decent, And They are not hard get. If you don't have problems joining discord, Getting into raid Is nowhere nearly as hard as ff14

I disagree. The raiding in 14 is superior to WoW in that you're not beating your head against a broken mechanics for days waiting for the devs to fix it. The 14 devs test every raid and mechanic to make sure that it can be cleared by basically anyone who wants to complete it.

But if you just don't like raiding in 14, that's fine. You don't have to do it, though I think you'd be missing out on some really good content, especially the last few raid series.

The thing with don´t having to do Highend Raid content is that devs still priotize it... it´s like... we enjoy Drifing in a Racing game but the endgame content the devs want are dragraces and drift mechanics would interfear with what they want... so in terms with drift mechanics we don´t have them anymore.

One class after the other gets whashed down to a point were they do not make fun anymore to play only that everyone can pull of there rotation while playing Extream, Savage and Ultimate DDR.

So the aspekt of the game I once enjoyed get´s removed in favore of content I do not give a shit for and I was suprised to see the feedback of how many others are not interested in High tire raiding.

The reason for that is simply because FF14 fights are so scripted that there mostly is only one way to do them.
Of course there are fewer bugs there but other than that the FF14 raids aren’t really raids but just scripted boss fights.
The last real raid was Dalriada.

If the devs tested each fight without dev tools to skip early mechanics we wouldn’t have gotten P8S…
They probably don’t even have the time to do the raids like normal players.

    At topic:
The reason people don’t raid is probably like others have said already, they have no interest.
Raids have the stigma of having to watch a guide and to know exactly where to stand when and many people just don’t like that.
They want fights that allow to jump in, maybe fail a few times but in the end get a clear and I can understand them.

I stopped raiding because it is honestly just boring.
You learn a guide to the T, look for a party that has your position open (annd has your guide in this useless guidewar) and then do the dance for hours, often without success.
Someone dies and body checks will wipe the group.
Add to that mechanics that are so obscure in part that you often need a static if your truly want to do them blind and even less people and to do it.

The FF14 raids are personally some of the worst in video game history for me.
They are so build around statics and guides nowadays that they give the feeling of only existing for content creators to have something to stream because the normal PF experience in that design is painful.

CLL, Dalriada or even some of the coils raids were real raids that deserved that name.

Outside few reasons that others have laid out, another reason I'm not interested to raid---or rather, PF'ing EX/Savage---is because of the general PF mentality that I've noticed since Endwalker and onward: to treat one another like your pseudo trust NPCs. Idm filling, helping, or doing these fights with group of friends or fixed statics. But because I no longer have that, they're just unworthy of a mental investment.

I gave raiding plenty of chances though at this point. The most recent was the Cruiserweight but it only took 2 attempts to notice the same mentality has not only gone away but is actually way worse. So yeah, no. I'll stick to my RP/friends circles peacefully, thank you.

Why am I not allowed to simply dislike high-end raiding?

I couldn't seriously call them raids after Heavensward.
Alexander was the last time you raided an actual place in the world for valuables. Yes, Dalriada and Castrum Lacus Litore are probably the best recent raids we've gotten, unfortunately they're hidden behind two layers of other junk that prevents you from experiencing them properly nowadays.

For the "normal" raid content however it's basically just been getting teleported into a small arena to do synchronized swimming for 8+ minutes since Stormblood.

But let's be real, this isn't exclusive to the raids.
A lot of the choices in later expansions, be it in regards to lore and explaining away every single mystery or content design, have made the game feel "small" despite us going to space. I haven't felt a sense of adventure in a long time.

The problem isn't really helped by everything that's been said as well. It stands to reason that if the mentality is "Everyone has their own job to stick to and everyone's expected to know it" then you could get away with doing it solo with NPCs and get more or less the same experience as doing it with a [Duty Complete] PF group who just aren't saying much in chat. Provided the tanks are mitigating, the healers are taking care of raidwide damage and the DPS aren't taking unnecessary damage, and everyone's following the guide to the letter, there's really no incentive or reason to interact. The way raids are designed effectively enforces this mentality.
