    Make Zones dangerous!

I remember running around in Final Fantasy 11 and even in Final Fantasy 14 1.0.
You actually had to watch where you run because mobs pulled a threat.
It made the game fun and thrilling.....

Now you can put auto run and dont care what you aggro... YoshyP made this game way to easy and its sad. And he doesnt care.

I like the idea of having threat.

I wouldn't want to be synced down (like with FATEs) in order to have this.

Mobs are only a threat in FFXI when they're around your level. Once you outlevel them they are incredibly weak and don't even aggro unless you hit them first, just like in FFXIV. Furthermore, even if you were to somehow make all mobs in FFXIV very lethal at all levels, it would still be pointless since you can fly right over them.

I agree that the game's overworld should be more interesting but "make every zone Minesweeper" isn't the solution.

I agree that dangerous zones are fun. That's why Eureka Pagos was so amazing. Everyone will tell you they hate Pagos, but that's because they don't like it when the open world world can beat them up, because humans like winning.

But considering that humans like winning, making it easy to win is good for SE so obviously they are going to make it trivial. They make field operations and other side content for people that can handle it being tougher.

Loved Pagos even pre nerf although the spawn rate could have used adjusting.

I think there is a fine line. I agree that some threat would be nice but constantly getting aggro from random mobs is just not very fun.

I mean, every zone until maxed level has dangerous mobs when you're still leveling? I've had to run away from them when I'm just questing early in DT.

Maybe I'm bias as a tank but this made me laugh. I can solo dungeon bosses; I'm hardly concerned about regular mobs in the world and I can get out my chocobo to heal me perpetually while I'm AFK for 60 minutes.

The most dangerous regular enemies I've fought in the open world in FFXIV have been in Heavensward in quest reward gear. There was something about the scaling of everything in that expansion that just hit hard even on a tank and back then we also didn't have all the same tools we have now. Still wasn't likely to kill me but I remember some close calls. The FATEs in Coerthas Western Highlands always hit hard too.

Also, while tanks may survive open world mobs easier, they take way longer to kill them. In many expansions it's been painfully slow for them to die, yet the few times I played as a DPS, it was a very different story and they died really quickly. So DPS don't have to endure the incoming damage for a long time usually. And well healers can heal indefinitely.
