Tbh it wasn't just the map thing, that was really the tip of the iceberg.
Last night I was thinking that I don't enjoy the newer harder fights in this game anymore. I think my favorite extreme has been Hells kier. It just felt like that fight and older ones like God Kefka had more care when they designed it. Positioning the phoenix adds so they don't get revived, getting the damage buffs from the arrows, not falling off in p2, and watching the phoenix go around the arena exploding platforms based on color. The fights were more engaging without being information overload like Everkeep where you have to look at 4 different squares and solve 3 mental puzzles before you get 1 shot. Not to mention the absolute bloom light/laser overload of every fight now. It's just too much for my autistic brain.
There have been a few exceptions, like car titan savage. That was a lot of fun, I liked the uplift mechanic, but almost everything since then has been healer stack, buddies, wacky safe spot... I don't know if it's because jobs were different for stormblood raids. Now we have super simple jobs but 100 levels into the game, I guess this is the direction they are going with fight design.
Worqor has mountain fire which is probably the most fun reflex kind of thing you could do in a raid, but due to ping some people have problems with that mechanic. (It's where the serpent goes side-to-side very fast, and you have to run in front of him to avoid the aoe) It's also engaging for the tanks to swap tank buster, because it gives the player something that they CAN do. But even if we wanted reflex-based action, I don't think the game could handle it.
Yes, i should transfer to find a new fc. I actually applied to one on midgardsormr community finder, but then all of Aether got blocked before i could transfer. Something about the way yoshi refuses to admit any wrong with the way he's handled travel rubs me the wrong way. I think this is a very Japanese PR thing and likely many others have left the game by now because of weird decisions.
