This thread title and its OP are bad faith actors throwing a tantrum that the content is bad because it didn't meet their expectation of a leveling experience. They embody every aspect of the toxic casual within FFXIV: having rebuffed initial attempts to provide assistance, perpetuated an agenda that content does not cater to their below-average playtime and ability, and ignored all valid arguments by claiming personal knowledge far beyond their actual experience with the game, all while being actively hostile.

For starters, I'm not acting in "Bad Faith" and there has been zero help offered in this thread to me or anyone other than, "well crafting is really easy so you must be playing fisher wrong, git gud".

I admit I'm a casual player, I'm sorry if you see casual players as toxic, but that's entirely a "you" problem. Casual players like me are what keep the game alive and growing. Just because I don't do Ultimates and Savages, doesn't mean I don't have the right to complain about the game when I see a problem and it doesn't mean I'm not competent, or *gasp* dare I say even good, at the jobs I do choose to play.

As to my playtime, I used to play around 20 hours a week, but honestly, Cosmic Explorations is so bad, I haven't wanted to log into the game for the last several days. But I guess we all can't be kids living at home in your parent's basement, unemployed, and be able to play 80+ hours a week or whatever you consider the "proper" average amount of time playing.

And if I'm actively hostile to knobbers like you, it's because I reply with the same energy that you did. Don't start something you can't finish.

I fish, both in games and in real life, to relax and enjoy the scenery. I've had less stress and frustration fishing in games like Warframe than I did in Cosmic Explorations.

Maybe if the content didn't suck and I was able to fish like I had wanted to I wouldn't be disappointed in the game or how this aspect has been handled.

And if you think I'm "hostile", you should probably avoid Reddit, there are people on there complaining about Cosmic Explorations that would probably make you break down and cry with what they have to say about it.

Why do you even need a pentameld'd bis gear just to level? Many other have used worse gears to level just fine.

That's my point. You shouldn't need BiS penta-melded gear to level a gatherer in Cosmic Explorations. But currently, you do. It's nearly impossible to level in the zone as a gatherer unless you're ready to play "savage" gathering.

This was supposed to be casual leveling content, for me and many others, it's not. It's not fun, casual, or good for leveling.

I'm currently not a fan of the cosmic exploration from a DoL standpoint. If the ultimate goal is to allow you to level up and achieve a goal as a server, making it so the tasks from level 50 onward so punishing, what's the point? Color me super confused when I was a few ilvls below 690 (I'm a VERY casual gatherer/crafter) and it alerted me that my ilvl was lower than recommended for what's supposed to be level 50 tasks? Excuse me? And then as I do more talking if you aren't basically pentamelded you can forget even getting close to level 100 nodes. This makes me not even want to do it. It should have been done the way firmament was handled for rebuilding ishgard. That was fun. You weren't "punished" for not being a pentamelded omi-gatherer. This whole zone essentially is just for high level omi gatherers and crafters and locks out the casual player that may have stuck with it.

I'm one of those penta-melded omni crafter/gatherers and this has been a challenge, I was struggling.
And then I decided to learn the game past using copy paste macro's from guides, looking up YouTube videos for fishing, joining the balance discord for information.

When it comes to fishing, that was the hardest of them all, though a breeze for non-penta'd friend of mine.

Should there just be no difficulty for people who have fully invested into their job to cater for the people who want to just casually do it ?

I will quit playing before I join the Balance Discord. That group of entitled, elitist, racist, @SShats can all go back to the aetherial sea and never come back. The world would be a better place without them.

And having a challenge is fine, but what I was dealing with as a fisher was beyond "challenging". It's was downright punishing and I'm NOT max level yet. Save the challenge for the max level stuff, and if you want to make a "savage mode" for crafters and gatherers, then make it part of the red alerts or something that you have to opt in to do. Don't set it as the default setting for the casual leveling content.
