Request: Split the genderlocked animations of the /visage emote into two emotes

The new /visage emote that has released now in 7.21 has different animations for male and female characters.
It's not only a slight difference like in the /photograph emote released a while ago. They're completely different poses!
    • Male characters crouch doing a thumbs up, and then do a peace sign smiling with their mouth open while holding their phone up.
    • Female characters adjust their hair, do a peace sign with a wink, and then wave while grinning. Females only stand up and don't crouch like the males.

Let us have both poses, please! I request that the male and female animations on the /visage emote are split into two separate emotes, like /visage Pose A and Pose B for example, and make them both available regardless of gender.

I don't understand why the devs made two different animations and then locked them by gender! They remove genderlock for gear sets on every patch (which I appreciate!), but at the same time they keep releasing gendered emotes!? It doesn't make sense!

Just stop locking emotes by gender, please!!

(This also applies to other existing gendered emotes.)

    Seconding this!

The number of female players upset that they can’t have the classic dragoon standing pose (Kane may have done it first, but Freya also did that pose!!), and male players sad that they don’t get the “sword in the ground” Dark Knight pose is really, really high.

Gendered emotes have always been kinda pointless since the game should allow us to express ourselves the way we want to. Locking fashion and emotes behind a gender wall makes players feel like they’re always missing out on something and they can never have both with the character they chose.

Didn't seen yet the emote, and I support this, the emotes shouldn't be genderlocked.

I was hoping when they introduced Sage that would mean an end to gendered Emotes finally since the /triumph and /victory are all the same for women and men... and then all emotes we got in EW were gendered yet again.

Same for clothing but that's a subject for another day.

I love the idea for the "Pose A/Pose B" option @magitekwitch offered!!

Gender is a very personal thing for each of us, and the way we express ourselves shouldn't be limited by being a boy, a girl (or nb). Thank you so much for unlocking gear regardless of our gender, but we also need the same for emotes. Let our WOLs express themselves, please.

Gender-locking clothing and emotes in 2025 is mind-boggling to me. Just add two variations of the emote, like it has been done with recent mogstation outfits, if you're so keen on making extra animations. This is laughable almost because they could be cutting so much extra work by giving everyone the same animation, and yet...

Completely agree wrt both, the visage emote and emotes in general.

In the case of the visage emote it's particularly ridiculous because gendering those two poses is so forced to begin with.

They don't seem gendered to me but like emotes you'd do in different situations. The female emote feels like a normal selfie emote whereas the male emote feels like a "reaction" or "tourism" emote. As in standing in front of something cool you found with your thumbs up or a peace sign.

Maybe it's a cultural thing and it's different in Japan but I swear I see so many boys and men do that exact "front hair/fringe adjustment into piece sign" sequence (without the crouch!). And if that simple wave is seriously "not manly enough", as if being caught doing it would dishonour you, your family and your cow, then that sounds incredibly...fragile.

On the flipside the crouch emote feels completely neutral to me too. I definitely see women do that, alone or with friends, because it's such a standard "look how cool this thing behind me is" emote.

It honestly bothers me that I can't use it on my female WoLs because it could be used for so many things. (Imagine the potential for screenshots after killing a boss. D.Va does an exaggerated version of that too, haha.)

I hate the thumbs up pose as female Lalafell eating pizza. I want to hold my head in happiness like everyone else.
I'm sure a lot of guys also don't want to give a random thumbs up as well, right?
(I wish I never got the emote.)

Added note: It bugs me how random it is. For whatever reason they just randomly choose to default female Lalafell with male version of emotes.

Seconding everyone here. I’m not sure why emotes are still being genderlocked, and for the new /visage one it feels particularly egregious since the two animations are *so* different. It’d be nice for my female wol to get to act a bit silly too instead of defaulting to cutesy, please.

If having two different emotes isn’t possible for whatever reason, maybe the emote could cycle between the two animations? One loop you get one animation, the following you get the other.

I very much agree. I hate the genderlocked clothing or emotes. They tend to not fit my characters. Having both as options or a loop would be a good solution.
