Cosmic Exploration Progress Made Me Feel Left Out

I completely missed out on Ishgardian Restoration due to not playing at that time, but I've since caught up with the game and have invested in the story of the Loporrits from having done their Allied Society quests.

As someone who works during the day and plays on a populated server, I completely missed having the opportunity to take part in progressing the story of Cosmic Exploration.

I understand that this has no gameplay impact and I've heard that the gameplay itself was not enjoyable. But this is a game; I play it to have fun, experience a story, and engage with a community. A tedious FATE would have ticked two of those.

This feels like showing up to a potluck and being told to leave the dish I bought on the lawn. I was looking forward to being able to participate in a community thing and contribute towards a common goal.

Instead, it just makes me feel bad that I missed out on something due to circumstances beyond my control. I very much hope that this pattern does not continue for every additional bit of progression.

This hope is why I'm posting an explanation for how this makes me feel to the official forums; hopefully it'll get rolled up in some sort of feedback packaged to the Devs who can hopefully make the next entries of this event more accessible.

The "it wasn't enjoyable" thing is such a weird remark too, because it's not as if what's left is enjoyable either.

I knew I would miss out on helping build up the place. It was the same with Ishgard restoration. If I remember correctly, I saw the last two phases for that one. And for those saying "you didn't miss anything, the content is still there". The point is to help and see in real time the place being built. To feel like you're part of the community effort. For Ishgard resto, the FATEs were "boring" too, but it was cool seeing everyone build things together, then getting the CS for our progress.

For larger servers, it only took a few hours to finish the phases for this week. That means by the time I was arriving to work it was done. But on the flip side, you have low population servers that are struggling to complete phases. I hope for the new areas they'll scale the building efforts. But it's probably wishful thinking on my end. I guess this will be another thing I just look at SS or watch a video on YouTube for.

Yeah this has been the "positive" response on Reddit too. Basically: yes you missed out, but don't sweat it, it was boring.

Oh well, 5 weeks or so until Occult Crescent.

I didn't get to do any of the Cosmic Exploration stuff, but for Ishgard Restoration it was stuff like this, clicking on things and then running to other things and clicking on them. To me, the fun part wasn't the clicking, it was seeing everybody doing it together (even though the game is really bad at showing all the people).

It's weird that they basically made the same thing again, even including the rocky start where people get left out. Although for Ishgard it was more about people server hopping and clogging up every instance when the restoration events were happening.
