Same here. Updated FFXIV and now I can't login using Steam.
There's multiple threads already. The solution that seems to be working for people is to reinstall or repair Microsoft Edge WebView2 which is part of the system requirements for the game.
If you're using Linux, it seems you are out of luck, though. I don't believe XIV "officially" supports or works on Linux.
No Edge on my PC and it did work fine yesterday. There's multiple threads already. The solution that seems to be working for people is to reinstall or repair Microsoft Edge WebView2 which is part of the system requirements for the game.

I'm unable to install or reinstall/repair Microsoft Edge WebView2. It's not shown as installed and the installer exe instant closes when i run it.There's multiple threads already. Just include what's needed in the launcher exe. Why are you forcing us to install third party software to play the game?!?!¨
Been more than a day where i can't play the game!
Edit:
I found a solution posted in another thread:
Change WebView2RuntimeInvalid 1 in your /Documents/My Games/FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn/FFXIV_BOOT.CFG and it seems to work. Works on Windows too. Let's hope SE doesn't remove this option so we can actually play the game.To get the Launcher to work in Linux, I had to:
1) Edit FFXIV_BOOT.CFG and change value of line WebView2RuntimeInvalid from 0 to 1.
2) Use Protontricks/Winetricks to uninstall WebView2.
The CFG file is in your Proton/Wine prefix for the game. Folder where you can find it is:
(My use case is Arch Linux with Steam version of the game.)Code:<prefix>/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/My Games/FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn/

And now for the one question, looking online NONE can answer, how do you find the version you have?
And fixed. Never thought I would install edge again, but I did anyway. And promptly destroyed everything I could and and exe files, so it will NEVER work again. Do you know where the Edge came from? Me. it was supposed to be a tablet, and taking the name without the design made it personal. Good thing I never gave the name for the evolution of the NEXT tablet after I had in mind. I do NOT trust ms and their spyware. Deleting bing and onedrive file by file is annoying enough. Oh, if you think you can not safely delete "trusted installer" files, if you know what you are doing, you can. Training in IT opens your horizons. It just takes a while and time. And totally worth the effort.
Having the same problem too, and I actively try to delete webview2 and edge, and I never had a problem before. Until AFTER 7.21 happened.
I haven't had issues with mine. I don't use Edge, but I leave it installed. I just did a Google search for Webview2 Runtime download and the first result was the Microsoft page for it.
