I really hope the devs look into this. I am a Linux user. From what I know, Square Enix does support the game through the Steam Deck, and by extension Linux. At the moment, I do have the option to use an old version (?) of the launcher, but I wonder how long it will last.

Please give old launcher back, or at least fall back if WebView2 isn't working. Nothing happens when i run MicrosoftEdgeWebview2Setup.exe
I don't have Microsoft Edge Webview2 installed in Apps. I can't play the game!
Let us play the game without Microsoft Edge Webview2!!!!!!

If you're using Linux, it seems you are out of luck, though. I don't believe XIV "officially" supports or works on Linux.
I'm unable to install or reinstall/repair Microsoft Edge WebView2. It's not shown as installed and the installer exe instant closes when i run it.
Just include what's needed in the launcher exe. Why are you forcing us to install third party software to play the game?!?!¨
Been more than a day where i can't play the game!

    Edit:

I found a solution posted in another thread:

    1) Edit FFXIV_BOOT.CFG and change value of line WebView2RuntimeInvalid from 0 to 1.
    2) Use Protontricks/Winetricks to uninstall WebView2.

The CFG file is in your Proton/Wine prefix for the game. Folder where you can find it is:

    Code:
    <prefix>/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/My Games/FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn/
(My use case is Arch Linux with Steam version of the game.)
Change WebView2RuntimeInvalid 1 in your /Documents/My Games/FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn/FFXIV_BOOT.CFG and it seems to work. Works on Windows too. Let's hope SE doesn't remove this option so we can actually play the game.

" Edit FFXIV_BOOT.CFG and change value of line WebView2RuntimeInvalid from 0 to 1."
This fixed it for me in windows.
