Your gif of the mask merchant is MFW someone inappropriately and ignorantly throws the word troll around as if they know what trolling is.

I am for jump, and my personal opinion is that I don't mind if people do it all day every day. I do not predict there will be many people who actually spam it anyway. Maybe a few, but this is a Final Fantasy game with a strong FF base, I don't think we will have a bunch of jumpers around. For a few people, jumping will be a very freeing evolution with XIV, I don't think limiting jumping would help sell the game.
On a side note I am looking forward to experiencing another dimension of game play "up".

I take this thread as a sign that people are running out of things to complain about.

I can do that, too.
1) It looks fine.
2) It's clearly useful for getting over obstacles (such as fences, and small slopes) as shown in the gameplay demo.
3) Jumping has been around in games since Donkey Kong.
4) It's entertaining.

Okay. Time to actively participate in this conversation-gone-rogue.
Jumping is a way we can further interact with the world introduced in Realm Reborn. It's there to make life easier - I'm much more interested in jumping down a 4-foot ledge than walking all the way around just to move forward. I like the idea of areas that require a little platforming and, in fact, I would like them to add more exploratory actions you can do - climb ladders, swing on vines, run on the sides of walls if you're a light-armor melee class, float down from a ledge if you're a white mage, use a grappling hook as a ranger. Why? Because this is a goddamned adventure game. That's the core gameplay of the MMORPG - you get a bunch of your friends and go exploring. And yes, limiting jumping will make this game stand out from other games, but not in a good way. And that's what this game doesn't need. I'd rather the game add something new to the genre than remove or limit aspects of it just because Rokien is making his bajillionth thread.

...Why did I even bother posting on this thread. It's clearly off-rails - in fact, off the ground. Off the planet. THIS THREAD IS IN SPACE.
Could we have a lock here? Anyone?
